This year will see the Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Club celebrate their 50th year and there are several small changes to the Championship for the 2014 season, which kicks off next weekend, 29th – 30th March 2014, near Wyaston, Derbyshire (DE6 2ET).
This year the Championship will be fought over 7 Rounds, with a double header, Rounds 3 and 4, over the final weekend of June, this will make room for a new event at Darley Moor, the 2014 Thundersprint in May.
However, the season begins this coming weekend with a full practice day starting at 10.00am on Saturday 29th March, giving the opportunity for riders to finalise last minute preparations/ familiarisation of their new ma-chines, or just give them the opportunity to get back up to speed after the winter break. For some, this week-end will be their first foray onto a road race track, perhaps as young as 12 years old and restricted to the Formula 125 class or a road rider who wants the extra adrenaline rush that can only be found on the race track. All new racers can easily be identified, for theirs and the safety of other competitors, as they will be wearing an orange novice jacket for their first 10 race meetings.
Round 1 begins at 10.00am on Sunday 30th March with Practice for each class, which as usual features a wide range of solo machines, sidecars and karts, the first race anticipated to start at 11.30am with non-stop action through to 6.00pm.
