HOTTRAX ANGLESEY MAY 25 AND 26 PREVIEW

Wednesday May 22, 2013 at 4:32pm

Despite his very best efforts Hudson Kennaugh will miss the second round of the ACU/sorrymate.com National Endurance championship at Anglesey on May 25 and 26 because of racing commitments at the Superbike World Championship meeting at Donington Park.

The South African looked at every method of getting from the Leicestershire circuit to Anglesey to compete in both events, but the schedule made it impossible.

His place in the IBL Racing team, alongside Mark Clark, will be taken, for this one-off ride only, by 21-year Jess Trayler.

It will steep learning curve for Trayler, who has never competed in an Endurance race and has never raced at Anglesey in the past.

Kennaugh and Clarke were penalised two laps in the opening round of the Endurance series at Oulton Park, pushing them down from first place to second, behind the Splitlath Redmond 400 squad of James Hillier and Cheung Wai On.

The Splitlath Redmond pairing will miss the Anglesey round of the series because they are competing in the Isle of Man TT races,  giving IBL Racing a chance to go to the top of the points’ table.

Andy Carpenter (Go Racing Development), who took third place in the National 1000 class at Oulton Park, along with team mate Greg Allsop, despite injuries sustained earlier in the weekend, is well on the men and hoping to add to the squad’s tally.

Pit Stop Racing (Marc and Peter Dilks), top team in the National 600 Endurance championship points’ table, are missing this meeting because Marc is on holiday in New Zealand for a month.

That should give their closest rivals, Power Projects Racing, the chance to go to the top of the standings.

But Richard Cunningham’s regular team mate, Gavin Little, is also on holiday. Cunningham is working hard to find a stand-in for the meeting

All this confusion could give third-placed Team Sorrymate.com (Colin Norris/Warren Herweh) the chance to climb the table.

Aaron Bird and Jamie Loveday (Anglia Interiors/Insignia Signs) grabbed victory in the opening round of the Clubman 1000 Endurance series, but they are certain to face tough opposition from their closest rivals, Tanc 2 Racing (Grant Berry/Chris Mason).

TDM Racing, in the form of Terry and Michael Merrett, second in the Clubman 600 Endurance, could take full advantage of the absence of P&M Racing.

Team Army (Peter Brown/Lawrence Williams) head for Wales topping the Rookie Endurance championship.

Greg Allsop will join Carpenter to contest the three-hour Endurance race, but he will race at Anglesey on the Saturday and that means he is almost certain to loose the lead in the Michelin Power Cup 1000 series.

He has the maximum 50-points in the championship, but the highly experienced Tony Keilty trails him by just 14 points.

Paul Wood tops the Michelin Power Cup Rookie 1000 championship with 50-points from his two outings.

William White was unbeatable in his two Michelin Power Cup 600 races at Oulton Park, but Richard Charlton chased him home in both outings.

Mark Walmsley leads the Michelin Power Cup Rookie class, having won both of his races in Cheshire.

With the top six in the Motogrande 600 series likely to be missing from Anglesey, expect those further down the leader-board, like Stephen Bridle, to take full advantage.

Paul Slade, top of the Rookie Motogrande 600 standings, will be out to stretch his lead over the opposition.

Angelo Derosa looks certain to surrender his lead in the Motogrande 1000 championship, though.

He will only be racing on the Sunday at Anglesey, leaving his closest rivals, Graham Hornby and Andrew Haines, the chance to go ahead.

Mick Alderson heads the Rookie Motogrande 1000 series on maximum points.

James Gerrard, top of the Desmo Due A championship and Thomas Hallifax, front runner in the B series head the line-up for the classy one-make series.

There will be changes in the MotoSolo championship. Sam West, winner of both races is absent and Angelo Derosa, second in the standing is only racing here on the Sunday. It is a great chance for Graham Hornby to climb the table.

Steve Roberts, on a maximum 50 points in the Modern Classic Megabike series after Oulton Park, faces tough opposition this time out from the experienced Robert Eagling.

Chris Norris tops the Modern Classic Superbike championship following the opening round. He has not entered at the time of writing and that gives Stuart Bayliss the chance to take the lead,

Robert Barton was unbeaten in the Modern Classic Supersport class at Oulton Park. He heads for Anglesey 14 points ahead of Richard Evans.

Joe Connolly tops the standings in the Maxitwins series and Andy Gill is also unbeaten in the Formula 400 class.
