The traditional season finale, ‘Stars at Darley’ meeting takes place at Darley Moor this weekend, with a practice day on the Saturday 6th October and an action packed race day on Sunday 8th.
Sunday will see Darley regulars mixing it with a number of competitors from the British Championship and Irish road racing scene in two 10 lap ‘Stars at Darley’ races, which have a £5,000 Prize Fund. The regular classes will be finishing their 2012 Championship off, but instead of a 6 and 8 lap race each, they will just have one 15 lap each to determine the final championship standings.
These headline races will give you the opportunity to watch the Honda TT Legends Team of John McGuiness and Gary Johnston, the Buildbase BMW Team with Lee Jackson, Mark Littler, Peter Hickman, Barry Burrell and Dean Brown. The Road Racing Ireland supported riders Michael Pearson and Daley Mathison plus Ian Lougher, Black Horse Finance John Ingram, gadgetbox.co.uk multiple ‘Stars at Darley’ winner, Richard Cooper and Jonathan Howarth, Team Green Kawasaki/G&S Racing.
With Free Paddock Transfer on both days there will be no better opportunity to try and have a chat with some of these top riders.
In addition to the ‘Stars’ races there are still four Darley Moor Championships to be decided, Open Sidecar, Steel Framed 600, Sound of Thunder and Pre 98’s (up to 500cc) classes.
Anthony Eades and Iain Greensmith need just 2 points to ensure they finish as Open Sidecar Champions, with Ray Thomas/Neil Aslaksen needing to win the race to be in with a chance of snatching the title.
Dean Ephgrave is favourite to take the Steel Framed 600 class title, with Steve Price, the only rider able to challenge him, needing to overturn a 10 point deficit.
Three riders are in with a chance of the Sound of Thunder title, Steven Hill having just a 6 point
advantage over Chris Gardner, with Martyn Green only able to capitalise if they both suffer bad luck.
After the previous 14 races this season the Pre 98’s (up to 500cc) class is separated by just 1 point at the head of the table, Tim Sayers holding this slender advantage over Robert Garmory.
Saturday Practice will be between 10.00am – 5.00pm, with an Untimed practice for ‘Stars’ competitors between 2.30pm – 3.30pm. Sunday practice will begin, as usual at 10am, with the ‘Stars at Darley’ first 15 minute qualifying session. The second ‘Stars’ qualifying session will bring practice to a close at 12 noon.
Entrance admission on Saturday; Adults £6.00, Senior Citizens £3.00, kids under 16 free.
Sunday admission; Adults £15.00, Senior Citizens £8.00, as always parking & paddock transfer free, with Programmes £3.00.
