Endurance
Ducks Cross Superstars (Jonathon Railton/Grant Wagstaff) started from pole with TEC- Supplies.com (Tim Cripps/Westley Crozier) having to win and Sweatshop Racing (Mick Godfrey/Simon Gardner) not to finish to take the title. Within minutes of the start we had two early fallers; 600 National champs Pit Stop Racing (Marc/Peter Dilks) and TEC dropping them way down the order and less of a threat to Sweatshop. The safety appeared twice as 2P Racing (Angus Peace/Nigel Prout) and Buntons Parkitt Racing (Andy Lund/Nick Matthews) pitched off.
With two hours left on the digital display we had the top half dozen covered by 30 seconds, the race was led TANC (Chris Mason/James McBride) from Ridgeback Racing (Mark Clark/Hudson Kennaugh), Go Racing Developments (Andy Carpenter/James Edwards), Sweatshop and DucksX. Shortly after TEC were in the dramas again shedding a drive chain bringing out the safety car to recover it from the track. More dramas for TEC as they fell again putting them out of contention and DucksX were out at the Bomb Hole. TANC were in charge from Sweatshop, Ridgeback, Go Racing, Ridgeback 2 and 1000 Clubmans champs Team Traction Control (Keith Flint/Ben Neeves).
As the final pit stops shuffled the order around we had Sweatties in P1 before a rider change and splash n dash to assure them of the 2012 title handing the race lead back to Ridgeback who took the race and National 1000 class win from Sweatshop by a slender 25 seconds, next we had TANC and Go Racing plus Ridgeback 2 were fifth in class, TEC were classified as sixth.
In the National 600s Pit Stop had endured a torrid time finishing an uncharacteristic fifth with Brand Brothers took the top step of the podium. Clubmans 1000 was another master class by Team Traction Control who took a popular win to add to their 2022 title from Anglia Interiors whilst J & B Racing (Jason & Brad Bradlaw) who could have been caught by Team XG Group (Warren Verwey/Gavin Howell). Triumphs Over Adversity (Richard/William White) and the Bradlaws rode brilliantly to finish only a lap down on second place to take the Clubmans 600 title.
MotoGrande 600
John Lea took three wins from four races on his Triumph which pitched him off costing him the fourth which was taken by Murray McConnachie who had a mixed bag the rest of the weekend. Andrew Lund took three podiums and youngster Jack Bleakley graced the bottom step. Mark Trowell walked off with the title after some hard riding whilst Chris Bexon, who has worked very hard all season, secured the Rookie title despite being pushed all the way by Paul Byron.
MotoGrande 1000
Julian Hughes won the first race of the weekend but was dumped off in the second so missed the final two races. Champion Rhalf Lo Turco worked hard to post a win, two seconds and a third after what has been a closely fought campaign. Modern Classic champ Dean Skipper has bought a new Fireblade and was on song with a win and a second whilst Tim Cornforth who graduated from 600s over the summer also took a win. Michael Vincent tidied up his claim for the championship with four wins on the trot.
Modern Classics
Lee Piercey used his Kawasaki 600 to great effect to take a brace of wins over Superbike champion Mark Dicken with Joe Connolly on his RSV, whilst the third race was the domain of Dicken from Connolly with Ian Pattinson in a close third. With Supercup title man Skipper moving up to MotoGrande he generously leant his Suzuki 750 to mechanic Mark Hurrell who secured three solid finishes in his first ever race weekend.
Michelin Power Cup 600
Richard Charlton put in some solid rides with two seconds and a third to take the title after what has been a hard season in the Power Cup. The three races produced wins for Wayne Humble, Brett Carter and Peter Dilks and a runner up spot for William White whilst Brendan Brown and Lee Piercey also visited the podium. Piercey was top rookie for the weekend and nailed the title with newcomer Gordon Greenshields taking a cherished win on the Sunday.
Michelin Power Cup 1000
James Cox was crowned champion at Cadwell but that didn’t stop him taking the first and last race of the weekend with a second place in the middle, season long rival Greg Allsop had a clever win in the middle race whilst Tony Kielty was always there abouts, Gaz Evans grabbed a third in the opening race. James Mack took a pair of rookie wins, missing out to Ashley Medhurst in the final encounter.
Desmo Dukes
One of the few people to have beaten Andy Challis fair and square during 2012 has been Andy Pike and it was the Nottingham man who stopped Challis walking away with all the silverware. The only other riders to grace the podium were James Gerrard, Phil Wilcock and Mark Roxbrough. In Class B Tom Halifax had two wins to Chris Clark’s singleton, after a fantastic season boasting large grids the Italian twins arguably produced the best race of the weekend.
