Eastern Centre Championship Finale at Blaxhall

This weekend the Woodbridge and DMCC played host to the final round of the Eastern Centre Motocross Championship at the fantastic Blaxhall Circuit. With two championship titles up for grabs on the day and the added excitement of Jake Nicholls competing in the Expert class the scene was set for some great racing in the October sunshine.

Racing started just before lunch with the qualifying heats for the Junior Championship races, Joe Bamfield took the first heat win, while Mason Law and Daniel Norman also took wins. Also before the lunchbreak was the opening Expert race of the day. When the gate dropped it was Aston Bird that took the early race lead ahead of Luke Benstead and Carl Nunn, with Nicholls working his way up the order. Nunn moved into second and set about Bird until a mistake would see Aston slip to Fourth. Nunn took over the lead ahead of Nicholls and a battle continued until the flag where Nicholls took the win over Nunn, Benstead, Bird and Steve Bixby in fifth.

After lunch it was time for the rest of the races. In the Junior C finals it was to be Darren Gooch that took the victory in the opening race ahead of David Bavin and Andrew Cattermore. In the Second C Final it was again Darren Gooch that took the win over David Bavin and Chris Freeman.
The B final would see Neil Jago take the race win over Paul Hubbard and Jake Morphey. Fourth and fifth places went to James Bennett and John Bavin. The second of the B finals went to James Bennett with Jake Morphey in second and Neil Jago in third. Fourth and fifth places went to John Bavin and Darren Jones.

The two Junior Championship finals would see Joe Bamfield take a stunning victory in the opening final of the day ahead of Mason Law and Rob Nicoll. The fourth and fifth places went to Jack Atkinson and Wayne Jackson. The second of the Junior finals would see race one winner retire after the opening lap. This opened the door to Daniel Norman for the win over Jack Atkinson and Rob Nicoll. The fourth and fifth places went to Mason Law and Sam Mitchell.

In the second Expert Race of the day was all set for a great race with Carl Nunn out front and Jake Nicholls pushing hard for the lead, when Nunn suffered a flat tyre and retired from the race. Nicholls took the race win ahead of Benstead and Bird. Fourth and fifth places went to Jason Morland and Steve Bixby. The third and final race of the day and the season would see Nicholls and Nunn battle all race long with Nicholls taking the win over Nunn and Benstead. Fourth and Fifth place went to Bird and Morland.

At the end of the day it was Mason Law that took the Junior Championship title and in the Expert Class it was Carl Nunn that took home the Championship Honours.
