The British Motorcycle Racing Club announces the new Kawasaki powered National
Junior Cup for 2012.

This new series will use the Kawasaki Ninja 250R twin 4-stroke machine, with a full race package obtainable through nominated UK dealers in the Kawasaki network. The machine will be fully prepared and ready to race at cost price to riders and teams. More details on pricing and spec will be made available shortly, package price expected to be in the range of £5000-5500 for the machine. Tyres will be via Pirelli, technical rules to be announced later.

The ACU has approved this package to be made available to riders aged from 13* on
Novice, Clubman or National licences in 2012. (*Rider must be 13 or older on 1st March 2012)
The Series will run over eight rounds, predominantly with the BMCRC together with
exposure at the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship.

The Championship targets riders aged 13 to 18 seeking a highly competitive package
in their early years of racing. Featuring rounds at BMCRC who have run the MRO
Superteen series for this age group for many years and BSB, where riders can rub
shoulders with those on the National stage.

Mike Dommett, CEO at BMCRC says “The time is right to create a new-look series for
this age group on a race-proven bike. This Series will give young riders the exposure
that we hope will prove attractive to them, the great package price means that will
also work for their parents and sponsors. They should enjoy lower running costs and
easier maintenance compared to the 2-strokes that have been the bikes of choice for
this group for many years”

The Series will use the Kawasaki Ninja 250R that has been successfully used in race
series in the USA and in a European Junior Series at WSB in 2011. Engines have
proved reliable in the Euro Series with no mechanical failures. Machines will be
supplied via nominated Kawasaki dealers and will be sealed. No engine tuning is
allowed or any change of the standard race package supplied, the Technical
departments at both BMCRC and BSB will ensure the Series is policed fairly for the
benefit of all competitors.

Mike Johnstone, Kawasaki Sales & Marketing Manager enthused “We fully support
this exciting new Championship which reflects our commitment to racing at every
level. “Team Green” is all about working with young riders to achieve their racing
ambitions and the recent success of Ninja 250R championships across Europe
reinforces what an ideal bike the Ninja is for young racers”.

Stuart Higgs, Series Director at BSB says “We are delighted that BMCRC have
launched this series to offer a high value opportunity to youngsters entering our
sport on a new stage for this age group. The inclusion of exposure at BSB cements
the link between the entry level to the sport and the premier national championship
class to provide the aspiration for career development.
