On Saturday Manxman David Knight was listed in the Queen’s 2011 Birthday Honours List and has been made a Member of the British Empire.
David Knight who is from the Isle of Man has been at the top of both World and British Enduro Championship racing for over ten years now. During that time Knight has captured a number of titles including his first World Enduro Championship in 2005 and then again in 2006 before moving to America to racing in the American GNCC championship, which he won in 2007 along with the AMA Endurocross series and the FIM Indoor Enduro World Cup. Again in 2008 David remained in America to retain his GNCC title. After a troubled 2009 season David Knight returned to World Enduro Championship racing with KTM to take his third E3 title.
On the National scene Knight has won the ACU British Enduro Championship a total of 8 times and various international events such as the Erzberg Extreme twice, U.S Red Bull Last man standing twice and was the overall winner of the 2005 International Six Day Enduro.
Speaking on Manx Radio David said "When I found out I was shell shocked. I am glad I have been recognised for my racing and my achievements. It’s a big honour"
