Over 40 riders took advantage of the FREE 2 day training event at Mallory Park in Leicestershire. The first day of the event gave riders in the Academy the chance to consider the importance of media skills with a short seminar from top racing photography company Double Red. This was followed by an afternoon of Sports Psychology with the Academy’s regular Sports Psychologist Ashley Scott.
Ashley spent the afternoon talking to the riders about the importance of goal setting and self-belief and how this will always have a massive impact on a rider’s performance during the year. Everyone ended the day with much food for thought.
Day two saw the riders take to track with rolling 15-minute sessions for 125 and 600 riders. A team of ACU Academy Coaches, including Clive Horton, Nigel Bosworth, Shaun Brown and Matt Llewellyn were on hand to work with all the riders, giving advice and support on all aspects of riding, from track craft to set up and race preparation.
This was also the first outing for 20 of the GSX-R Trophy riders who attended the day. With 36 bikes now sold, of which 25 have been collected, the series is looking to be a sure fire hit and everyone who saw the bikes lined up on the grid with the riders in their regulation Dainese leathers agreed that the series was going to be a spectacular success.
The training ended at 4pm with a final de-brief and farewell from Clive Horton and his coach team and everyone looking forward to the first round at Brands Hatch on 14th and 15th April.
