During the Castle Combe meeting, Academy Coaches Clive Horton and Matt Llewellyn were able to give ‘one to one’ tuition on how to improve start line techniques and riding skill, boosting their confidence to new levels. During the Saturday practice session at Castle Combe, the machine unfortunately suffered mechanical failure, causing damage to major components of the machine.
Surveying the damage the Team were ready to load the machine back into the race van and set for home. With intervention from coaches Clive Horton and Nigel Bosworth, the Team were shown how much support and assistance is available from fellow competitors, especially the visiting World Championship sidecar Teams, who as usual, were able to produce some much needed welding equipment. Resulting in a machine ready to race by 8.30 PM Saturday evening.
Dave Luscombe said, “Firstly, it is very much appreciated to receive letters like this; it shows the ACU are targeting the wealth of experience the Academy Coaches have to the correct competitors. The knowledge given to these riders, from former top class competitors can dramatically reduce the steep learning curve, giving talent a better chance of emerging before funding runs dry!
