ACU Celebrates International Women’s Day and Growing Opportunities for Women in Motorcycle Sport

This International Women’s Day, the Auto-Cycle Union (ACU) is proud to celebrate the achievements of women across motorcycle sport and highlight the progress being made to support female athletes throughout the UK.

This year’s theme, #GiveToGain, reflects the ACU’s ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for women within the sport. As the governing body of motorcycle sport in the UK, the ACU recognises its responsibility to provide athletes with the platform to perform while acknowledging the many organisers, officials, volunteers and supporters whose dedication makes these championships possible.

In 2025, the ACU introduced four new Official British Champions specifically for women, including the ACU British Flat Track Women’s Championship and the MXGB Women’s Championship. These additions represent an important step in strengthening the competitive pathway for female riders and ensuring their achievements are recognised at the highest national level.

Trials also reached a significant milestone as the historic ACU Ladies and Girls Trials Championship was amalgamated with TrialGB, introducing two official women’s categories within the TrialGB Championship. This development further integrates women into the sport’s premier trials series and elevates the level of competition.

Building on this progress, the 2026 season has also seen the introduction of a Trial3 category for women, as well as an official Women’s class within the ACU S3 National Trials Championship, further expanding opportunities for female competitors.

With women’s participation in motorcycle sport stronger than ever, the ACU remains committed to supporting riders across all disciplines. By continuing to create opportunities and platforms for women to compete and succeed, the sport gains incredible champions who inspire the next generation.

On International Women’s Day, the ACU celebrates not only the riders leading the way today, but also everyone across the sport who contributes their time, knowledge and passion to help shape a brighter future for women in motorcycle sport.
