The ACU is saddened to report the death of the off-road motorcycle ‘Legend’ Arthur Lampkin who passed away peacefully in his sleep at the weekend after a battle with cancer which he fought with dignity. He was the eldest of the three famous brothers from Yorkshire followed by Alan and the late Martin. All three Lampkin brothers won the Scott and Scottish Six Days Trials during there long and rewarding motorcycle careers. Many will remember the TV Scrambles which run in the sixties, Arthur Lampkin became a household name.

Arthur Lampkins motorcycling career spanned both trials and scrambling where he excelled and became well known on BSA machinery. He won a prestigious Gold Medal at the 1958 International Six Days Trial representing his country and won the Scottish Six Days Trial in 1963. At the Scott Trial in Yorkshire he won the event in 1960, 1961 and 1965. During his scrambling years he won the ACU 500cc British Championship in 1959 and the 250cc in 1961, and in 1963 he was part of winning team from Great Britain at the Trophee Des Nations in Sweden.
