Clarification on ACU National Trials Licences for TrialGB Events

Wednesday January 7, 2026 at 2:23pm

The ACU National Trials Licence is only required for riders competing in the Adult classes at TrialGB events. These premier classes operate under specific national-level regulations, which is why a National Trials Licence is mandatory for those competitors.

For all other ACU trials competitions, a National Trials Licence is not required. Events such as the S3 Parts Championship, British Sidecar Trials, and the Normandale Championship can all be contested using the ACU Club Trials Registration.

This means that riders competing outside of the TrialGB Adult classes can continue to participate at national championships and major series with the more accessible Club Trials Registration, helping to keep competition open and affordable across the sport.

Riders are advised to ensure they hold the correct registration or licence for the specific class and event they are entering before competing.
