There is no denying that 2025 has been a stand-out year for Jack Peace – Sherco and the twenty-five-year-old from Scarborough will be aiming to keep his momentum going when he gets the new season under way having now been confirmed to ride at X-Trial Leeds – round six of the 2026 FIM X-Trial World Championship – on Saturday 24 January.
Recently regaining the TrialGB title has been the cherry on top of a super-successful season for Peace that began with an appearance in the final at the third edition of the DL12 Indoor Trial in Sheffield last January and also saw him finish an impressive fifth overall in his debut year in the premier TrialGP class of the FIM Trial World Championship before helping steer Britain to second in the 2025 FIM Trial des Nations.
“It’s been a great season for me, definitely,” said Peace. “I was very happy to get top five in the world and we had a great weekend in Italy for the Trial des Nations. I think second is our best result for a few years and we all rode really well. Obviously, we’re quite a young team so hopefully we can keep working towards closing the gap to Spain.”
The X-Trial Leeds entry will be headed by Toni Bou, Jaime Busto and Gabriel Marcelli when promoter ML Events stages the first-ever motorcycle event inside the city centre First Direct Bank Arena – part of a three-year deal that will see the FIM X-Trial World Championship return to Britain for the first time in a decade – so challenging the Spanish trio will be Peace’s main objective if he is to end the night on the podium.
Peace was just three marks short of finishing third at the final edition of the DL12 Indoor Trial and also claimed fourth at the last round of the 2025 FIM X-Trial World Championship in the Estonian capital Tallinn, so he knows exactly what it will take to make the podium.
“I’m really excited about X-Trial Leeds. The atmosphere at the start of the season in Sheffield was fantastic and I’m sure that will be the case in Leeds as well. I definitely get a buzz from riding in front of my home crowd. It would be brilliant to be in the final and to be on the podium would be amazing and that is what I need to be aiming for – I know it won’t be easy, but it’s definitely achievable.
“I’m gaining experience indoors, though I still haven’t done all that many – I’m not even into double figures yet. The sections are obviously much bigger indoors, but the techniques needed for outdoors can be carried across and for the last couple of winters I have been training a bit more on indoor-style sections and that’s really helped me.
“The plan is now to spend a lot of time training in Spain with Adam Raga again over the winter – making it into the Final in Estonia was a really big confidence booster and something I feel I can build from.”
