As a staunch supporter of many of its previous activities, ML Events is delighted to announce that TMX has agreed a deal to become an Official Partner of X-Trial Leeds – round six of the 2026 FIM X-Trial World Championship – that will make its debut in the city’s First Direct Bank Arena on Saturday 24 January 2026.
The first motorcycle event ever to be held in the modern city centre venue, X-Trial Leeds marks the series’ return to Britain following a decade’s absence as part of a three-year deal for ML Events to run its home round of the FIM X-Trial World Championship.
With a rich history that can be traced all the way back to 1977 when Yrjö Vesterinen was the King of Trial, twin-shocks ruled the roost and Indoor Trial had not even been invented, TMX –and the tens of thousands of off-road enthusiasts who have grown up reading it – has been the authoritative voice of off-road motorcycle sport for almost half-a-century.
When Dougie Lampkin won the first-ever Indoor Trial at Sheffield in 1996, TMX was there to report on it along with every subsequent edition all the way up to 2019 and when ML Events – with Lampkin by now in his new role as co-promoter, rather than a star rider – launched its run of three successful editions of the DL12 Indoor Trial in Steel City in 2023, once again TMX was there.
Having moved and adapted with the times, TMX has come a long way from its roots as a weekly newspaper and it is now a glossy, bi-monthly A4 publication with a thriving online presence. However, what has not changed since those formative years is the passion that is poured into every issue with informed opinion, incisive reporting and in-depth features covering all aspects of off-road motorcycle sport.
It is fair to say that Lampkin – who has appeared within the hallowed pages of TMX on more occasions than most – is a big fan.
Lampkin said: “When I was a lad there would be a rush in my house every Friday morning to see who could get their hands on TMX first when it dropped through the letterbox and many years later it is still essential reading. Over all three editions of the DL12 Indoor Trial, TMX was a highly-valued supporter and I’m very happy to continue to build on this strong relationship with X-Trial Leeds.”
Peter Johns, TMX Publisher, stated: “The fans who turn out in their thousands to events organised by ML Events are also our audience so, purely from a business perspective, it makes perfect sense to get behind X-Trial Leeds. We have seen ML Events continually raise the bar with the DL12 Indoor Trial and, personally, I am tremendously excited to see what we can look forward to following the move to such an immaculate, modern venue as the First Direct Bank Arena.”
