The ACU are very sad to report that Chris Warren passed away earlier today following an illness. Chris was well known throughout the world of Motocross and was a member of the FIM CMS Commission as well as the ACU Motocross Committee in the past. He was also a long-standing member of the Southern Centre.
Chris served on the ACU Motocross Committee from 2006-2023 and was also Vice Chairman of the Motocross Committee until he retired at the end of 2023. He joined the FIM in 2008 as Chief Flag Marshal and was appointed as the ACU Team GB Team Co-ordinator for the 2007 Motocross of Nations.
Chris has officiated at numerous events throughout his long career involved with the sport, including many Motocross Grand Prix’s and the MXON at Donnington Park in 2008.
Chris was instrumental in the promotion of Sidecar Grand Prix events, more recently at Langrish, a circuit whereby he has promoted many successful events and has been the FIM representative in many countries around the world. Chris was instrumental in developing the training for marshals in the Motocross discipline, something he was active in until his sad passing.
Steve McCauley, ACU MX Commission Chairman said “I have known Chris for many years and worked with him on many training events at ACU House. He always had a very humorous side, and we enjoyed a laugh over a drink to digest the seminar and discuss tweaks and improvements for the sport. He was very supportive of me becoming the Chairman of the ACU Motorcross Committee after Brian Higgins stood down and we met over dinner whereby he really pushed me to take on the role. A role which he was more deserving of than me at the time. He simply dedicated his life to the sport of Motocross and the ACU are thankful to him for the huge impact he has had on the sport. I join with the rest of the motorcycle family around the world in offering my sincere condolences to his family for the sad loss”.
The ACU express our sincere condolences to his family and all who knew him for the sad loss and to acknowledge the huge contribution he made throughout the world of motocross.
