Fans will not only be treated to a new venue, but they will also be able to enjoy a new and more dynamic competition format when X-Trial Leeds comes to the First Direct Bank Arena – Leeds on Saturday 24 January 2026. With this historic event marking the first time that the FIM X-Trial (Indoor) World Championship has visited Great Britain since 2016, it will also mark the first time the latest series set up has played out on British soil.
All eight invited riders, being made up of the three automatic qualified riders - those being Toni Bou, Jaime Busto and Gabriel Marcelli – who will be joined by two promoter selected wildcard riders and three riders chosen by the series organiser, will contest Qualification One that will consist of five sections ridden in the forward direction. Only the top three riders from this preliminary round will transfer directly to the Final.
The remaining five riders will then have to move to Qualification Two, which will basically be a last chance run, for them to grab the one remaining place in the four rider Final. This play off will take place on a specially designed Sprint Section – with the fastest rider from the five challengers being rewarded with the golden ticket and place in the Final.
The same Sprint Section will then be used to determine starting order for the Final, with the fastest rider gaining the right to ride last through the opening section of the main event. All four riders will ride the six sections in the reverse direction to determine who will become the first ever winner of X-Trial Leeds.
