Round 4 of the ACU Championship at Darley Moor was held in very mixed conditions last Sunday but it didn’t dampen the spectacular action we have come to expect from these ACU classes.
After a wet practice race, 1 set off in drying conditions. Overall championship contenders Paul Livesey and William Greenway got straight down to the fight. Unfortunately on lap 3 Greenway crashed out at the hairpin leaving Livesey the opportunity to put one hand firmly on the trophy. Paul Livesey wasn’t having it all his own way though, as fast charging Dave McGlone (who seemed to be on fire)on his nicely prepared 85cc two stroke powered by to win the race.
Race 2 the still on fire Dave Mc Glone cleared off to an 8+ second win. Whilst William Greenway on his repaired bike came home in 6th,Paul Livesey for his part rode a mature champions race to finish 2nd and claim the 2025 Ultralightweight and Streetstock prizes
After the race Paul said:_ “Chuffed to bits to have secured the ACU Championship with a round to spare! Everything has come together perfectly this 2025 season. A huge thank you to my dad, Bob, Danielle and my son, Jenson, for their incredible support, couldn’t have done it without them. I will definitely be back for the 2026 season plus I’m considering adding a formula 400 bike to our garage”.
Further down the field, notable rides on the day came from Hayden West and Steve Coalville who battled it out for 3
rd an 4
th places in both races with less than a second between them.
Husband an wife team Jez and Wag Scott had a great day with good results. However Wag’s bike went down in race 1 at the Chicane to bring back their Streetstock points to within 1 point of each other as the go into the last round at Mallory (there will be feathers!!).
Dave McClone and Steve Coalville were podium finishers in every race at Darley. So Its all down to last round at Mallory now, to decide which one of them takes the 80-85cc class crown.
Mallory Park 5
