Grimshaw Back on Top Form at Blaxhall, as Hopkins Dominates NGR Class!
Sunday 6th of July saw the Woodbridge DMCC host their third motocross meeting of the year at Blaxhall, with round 4 of the popular NGR championship alongside allcomers and top expert groups.

A busy 12 race schedule awaited the spectators after the morning qualifying sessions, which was ended with a parade lap by the NGR riders in memory of Rob Farrow, who sadly passed away on the 25th of May. Rob was an avid motorsport enthusiast and a regular rider at meetings with the Woodbridge DMCC who will be sadly missed by the Eastern centre and NGR motocross community.

Race one of the NGR class would see Aaron Hopkins take a start to finish race win in impressive style, dealing with the tricky wet and windy conditions to good effect. In second was Kevin Palmer who battled well, through the top five but was just too far back to catch the leader. In third was the consistent Marcus Smith ahead of Tyrone Tugwell and club member Mark Hunt.

In race two it was again Hopkins who was quick from the gate drop but this time Palmer was a lot closer than in race one. A good start from Tugwell would see him close by in the early stages along with Mark Hunt. Palmer would put the pressure on leader Hopkins but it was to no avail, Hopkins would cross the line first again ahead of Palmer in second. In third was Hunt, Marcus Smith in fourth and Tugwell in fifth.

The final NGR race of the day would again see Aaron Hopkins take the win completing the hat-trick ahead of Mark Hunt in second with his best result of the day. In third was Marcus Smith ahead of Tyrone Tugwell and Josh Deadman in fifth.

The NGR overall would go to Hopkins with a perfect record of 1-1-1, in second was Mark Hunt with a 5-3-2. In third overall was Marcus Smith with a 3-4-3.

In the Allcomers ‘A’ class there was an intriguing mix of Top experts and exciting youth riders which would produce some quality racing throughout the entire field. The overall would go to Apico Honda rider Tom Grimshaw who took all three race wins on his return from shoulder injury. Tom’s fitness levels and style shone through and was very impressive while dealing with the deteriorating track conditions. In second overall was Bayliss Utting, with the youngster going 4-2-2 and having some cracking starts putting him in a good position during the early few laps. Third overall would go to Declan Whittle with a 5-4-3 and looking very consistent once more. In fourth was Travis Steels with his best result coming in race one with a fantastic second place. Fifth overall was Will Farrow with another solid day at his local track.

The ‘B’ group honours were taken by Henry Crawford with a 2-2-4 ahead of Carl Miller with a 1-1-8. In third was Lewis Holmes with a 3-5-3 finish.

The ‘C’ group overall was taken by Ryan Goode with a 2-2-2 ahead of Jak Young in second with a 1-7-1. In third was Jake Hicks with a 3-4-4.

The next and final race meeting of 2025 at Blaxhall will be the 17th of August for Round 6 of the ACU Eastern Centre Championship, we look forward to welcoming you back at the Blaxhall Circuit.
