Rounds 3 and 4 of the ACU Youth British Championship brought an exciting back-to-back weekend, offering a fantastic mix of sections and varied terrain at two distinct venues. After a long break since Rounds 1 and 2, hosted by Scarborough and District Motor Club, the riders were eager to get back on their bikes and into competition mode.
Round 3: Earl Shilton Trials Club
The third round was hosted by Earl Shilton Trials Club at their Earl Shilton venue, which featured a diverse range of sections composed of natural rocks, banks, and man-made obstacles. These challenging sections demanded precision and skill, with tight turns between rocks and steep steps testing the riders’ capabilities.
However, it wasn’t just the sections that posed a challenge—hot temperatures added to the difficulty, making the day both physically demanding and exhausting. The club stepped up to support the riders by providing free bottles of water, distributing an impressive 400 bottles throughout the event.
The 12 brilliantly designed sections showcased the effort and planning by the Earl Shilton Trials Club. Their hard work paid off, delivering a true trials experience with a welcoming and competitive atmosphere. Riders displayed exceptional skill and determination, making for a memorable third round.
Round 4: Mansfield Maun MCC at Bracken Rocks
Following the conclusion of Round 3, riders convoyed to Bracken Rocks in Derbyshire for Round 4, hosted by Mansfield Maun MCC. The terrain at Bracken Rocks provided a stark contrast, featuring an abundance of loose rocks, steep banks, and intimidating steps, some as high as 5 feet.
Despite cooler weather, the club ensured ample hydration for participants, mirroring the thoughtful efforts seen in Round 3. The 12-section course challenged riders with a mix of tight clutch-control turns, long timed sections, and technical rock formations. The balanced course design catered to all skill levels, offering a mix of easy, medium, and hard sections to ensure an enjoyable yet demanding day.
The back-to-back rounds were a testament to the dedication and expertise of both hosting clubs. Riders tackled the challenges with grit and enthusiasm, creating a thrilling continuation of the championship.
Now, competitors look ahead to the final two rounds in early August, set to take place on the Isle of Man, marking the culmination of the 2025 ACU Youth British Championship series.
