Greenlight Television have been involved with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races since the1990’s becoming an Associate Partner in 2005 and have filmed and produced programmes for TV world-wide and DVD’s annually since the races 50th anniversary.
With filming arrangements agreed for 2020, plans were blown asunder as the Covid-10 pandemic struck and the lockdown was imposed.
However if ‘live’ coverage cannot be achieved, the next best reaction is to delve into the archives and select some of the best racing action from previous years to rekindle the excitement and memories for those were present and to show the younger enthusiasts what a fantastic history the Southern100 has since the first races in 1955.
Unfortunately, film footage does not go back to the early years, annual coverage came about from 2005, the races 50th anniversary courtesy of Greenlight Television and in-home viewing from Duke Video.
Greenlight TV have kindly made the Southern 100 Archives available to the club and after some discussion, 12 races were chosen, all within less than 0.200 of a second between first and second at the chequered flag!
With due diligence Greenlight’s Josh Riodon searched the archive vaults at ‘Greenlight House’ and located all twelve titles, which were released on the Southern 100 Facebook Page over the four nights that would have seen action on the Colas Billown Course – three per evening.
