Bumper Attendance at the 2018 ACU Awards
Saturday 26th January saw the annual ACU Awards presentations take place at the prestigious National Motorcycle Museum at Solihull, West Midlands, where nearly 700 guests attended, representing all disciplines of motorcycle sport.

During the daytime just under 300 guests arrived for the presentation of the ACU Youth Awards which saw International star and British Masters Grass Track Champion Zach Wajtknecht made a spectacular entrance to the Imperial Suite on his Grass Track machine.

There was a great turn out of our Youth Award winners to collect their Awards to celebrate their achievements from last year. Former British Trials Champion Michael Brown was on hand to present the Trials Awards, while Zach awarded the Grass Track/Speedway and it was also great to see Gareth Hockey from RHL Activities Ltd present the British Youth National Awards. 

In the evening the Adult Awards took place which saw the large turnout of stars and guests with over 400 sat down to celebrate the achievements of last year. British Masters Grass Track Champion Zach Wajtknecht rode his championship winning machine into the Imperial Suite and the sound of the bike was fantastic as he made his way up to the stage. 

19-year-old Road Racer Ryan Vickers was in attendance to collect the prestigious Pinhard Trophy as the best Under 21-year-old competing in ACU events. Ryan was awarded the prestigious 3-gallon cup after an outstanding season in 2018 were he claimed the British 600cc Superstock Championship.  

The evening also featured a number of special guests and National Champions including top Speedway rider Robert Lambert who was in attendance to collect his FIM Speedway of Nations Silver medal alongside Sue Woffinden, Robert also collect his British and Under 21 Speedway titles for 2018 after a great season for the youngster from Norfolk.

After collecting his own Silver medal award as captain of the World Long Track team with his team mates James Shanes and Zach Wajtknecht, Chris Harris remained on stage to then present the remainder of the Track Racing and Speedway awards.

The ACU Datatag Commitment to Coaching Award to recognise the outstanding commitment to ACU Coaching by a Non-Commercial club Project or Individual and this was awarded to the Bryan Puckett for his outstanding work at Trials Training Wales.

There was also a number of award winners present from the National Road Rally to celebrate their achievements, including Team C90 Numpty’s who claimed the Spirit of the Event award.

ACU Chairman Roy Humphries commented “As always a lot of hard work goes into organising the Annual ACU Awards by the ACU Staff to make it all happen. Once again the whole day has been superb and it is great to see so many riders from all disciplines come together to celebrate their achievements of last year”.
