Scarborough Festival of Speed Bike and Car Hill Climb a huge success
Saturday and Sunday, 2nd and 3rd of May, saw Scarborough Festival of Speed Hill Climb once again at the famous Oliver's Mount race circuit. With a great entry of riders signed up featuring new faces as well as old, the scene was set for a great weekend of racing. The event attracted one of the biggest entries in its history, with cars ranging from Minis to single seater racing cars plus motorcycles and sidecars and for the first time, a scooter class was added, which again has attracted a good entry.

For those that haven't been to the hill climbs at Oliver's Mount, the cars and bikes start from the end of the paddock, turn right at farm bends, along the traditional start/finish straight, around Mere Hairpin, up Sheene rise then hard left at Grant's and then across the finish line on the service road at the top of the hill. It is a fun yet challenging track that is enjoyed by all the racers. Each racer was set to get 3 timed runs up the course each day.

Saturday:

Saturday morning and after a light shower early on, the sun came out and the crowds were treated to some fantastic runs throughout the day. There were fast times across all categories and at the end of the afternoon a few were getting close to track records.

In the cars, the fastest time of the day came from Bradley Dickaerson, who was absolutely flying all day and he drove his Jedi Mk 4 up the hill in 39.97!

On the bikes, it was Paul Jeffery on his Honda that just got the fastest time with a 44.54.

Sunday:
Unfortunately, on Sunday morning the weather was not on our side. There was heavy rain through the night and it continued in the morning. The decision was taken to delay the start as there was water flowing across the track in parts. The forecast predicted that the rain would clear so it was worth holding out. Thankfully, the rain did clear and the wind then dried the track out very quickly.

At 13.00 the race was back on and although there was a late start, the Auto 66 Club were able to run a full programme of racing in the afternoon - much to the delight of the crowds and racers.

Incredibly the fastest times on Sunday were the same racers as on Saturday.

The fastest run of the day in the cars came from Bradley Dickaerson who drove his Jedi Mk 4 up the hill in 42.44 seconds!

On the bikes, it was Paul Jeffery who went fastest of everyone on his Honda 500 with a time of 44.80.

The Scarborough Festival of Speed 2015 was a great event. Thanks to all the riders, drivers, marshals and staff who made the weekend so good. We will be looking to grow this event in 2016 so look out for the dates which will be released soon. Full results can be found on the website:
