AUTO 66 APPOINT NEW PRESIDENT
Robert Goodwill the Transport Minister and MP for Scarborough and Whitby has accepted the position of President of the Auto 66 Club.

Robert is only the second President, the first being the late Arthur Thompson, a farmer and land owner from Cranswick near Driffield, who was the first President in the 60’s and continued until his death at the age of 99. It was one of Arthurs wishes that the club not replace him with “just anyone” but someone who would have motorsport in his heart.

With the Club coming up to its 50th Anniversary, the invitation was sent out to Mr. Goodwill who was over the moon to be asked, particularly as he follows in the footsteps of Arthur, a fellow farmer in the area with the same approach to motoring as a whole.

Robert Goodwill attended the first Road Race of the season at Oliver’s Mount in April and was delighted with what he saw, particularly the large crowd that was bringing publicity and revenue to the area, as well as the large amount of TV coverage, worldwide, that the meeting brought
