Red Bull City Trial set to score a Manchester hat-trick
Monday July 14, 2014 at 10:31am
Saturday 4th October will see the established Red Bull City Trial return to Manchester for a third year in succession, with this latest edition promising to be the biggest and best to date thanks to a stronger World class entry, an entirely new and never been seen before course plus an incredible new location.
A section of Manchester's main and most famous shopping street - Deansgate - bang in the centre of the city will be closed to facilitate this highly anticipated third coming of the Red Bull City Trial. Looking to build on the success of last year's head to head format the elite field of international riders will once again fight it out over a spectacular dual lane course designed especially for the event by Martin Lampkin.
The action is sure to be fast, furious and highly skillful throughout the day with four individual rounds scheduled to determine the eventual champion from an entry that will include long serving Red Bull athlete and Trial legend Dougie Lampkin. Twelve times FIM Trial World Champion Lampkin will be looking to improve on the third place he achieved in Exchange Square last year after having led his team to victory at the inaugural event in Piccadilly Gardens back in 2012.
This time around with with the prestigious House of Fraser store as the backdrop, the Red Bull City Trial will once again bring this specialised sport to a new and mainstream audience with it being a free admission event suitable for all age groups. The simple and dynamic format means that no prior knowledge of the sport is required to enjoy what is sure to be another highly entertaining intake of must see two-wheel action.
Delighted to have yet another unique opportunity to compete in front of a mass non-specialist crowd Dougie Lampkin said. "It is simply amazing to have Red Bull City Trial coming back to Manchester for a third year in a row. The event belongs in this great city, and what is unbelievable is that the actual location gets better each year."
"The new head to head format worked really well last year, it created some really close battles, plenty of drama, some good crashes and went down a storm with the audience who were not previously familiar with our sport."
Lampkin ended by saying. "This year's initial entry list looks stronger than ever so I am going to have my work cut out, but already I am looking forward to the event and to riding a course that is new from the ground up and that promises to separate the men from the boys."
Further event details will be released in due course, but in the meantime make sure Saturday 4th October is saved in your diary.
