British Youth Nationals make first visit to Brookthorpe for round 3 of the championship

The 2014 British Youth Nationals head to Brookthorpe in Gloucestershire for this weekend’s round 3 of the championship.

After an exciting round 2 at Culham Moto Parc, riders are now aiming to continue their success at the hard pack surface of Brookthorpe. Over the last 50 years Brookthorpe has hosted many Championship races and has the reputation of an exciting and entertaining venue to race at, this weekend they play host to the best British Youth riders in the UK.

In the Moto Magazine 65cc Junior class Joe Rizzi leads Eddie Jay Wade by only 3 points, followed closely by Louie Kessell. These guys have ripped all year and expect the same this weekend.

Same can be said for the SW85 class, the quality of riders is second to none, Rossi Beard leads the way from Ben Clark and Kacey Hird, in one of the toughest classes to call.

Brad Todd tops the British Under 23 class but with Scott Elderfield in dominant form at Culham, Brad will need to be at the top of his game at round 3.

Gareth Hockey of RHL Activities explains what he expects at Brookthorpe, “the team and myself are really looking forward to the racing this weekend, the first 2 rounds have showed the exceptional talent we have in Britain, round 3 will no doubt continue in the same vain. The summer holidays are now upon us which makes it easier for parents to travel and prepare for what is set to be a great weekend packed full of racing.”

After his horrendous shoulder injury at the previous round, Ollie Osmaston is back fighting fit in the British Open Youth championship, Jay Lamb will be gunning for the Honda rider, Ollie leads Jay by only 1 point in the overall series.

So many classes are super close this year, the BW85 riders always produce exciting racing to watch. You could pick one of many riders for the win including championship leader Dexter Douglas, Alex Brown, Dylan Woodcock, Keenan Hird, Jed Etchells and Brett Pocock, it really is too close to call.

In the 125 ACU two stroke championship, Jordan Eccles has been in great form, Jordan leads the series by 27 points from second placed rider Daniel Wright and Josh Coleman in third.

Brookthorpe is located just off junction 12 of the M5 - Postcode is GL4 0UT.
