Croation Champion Loris Majcan Joins Line Up of New Riders Contesting TT 2024

Triple and reigning Croatian Supersport Champion Loris Majcan will make his debut at the Isle of Man TT Races.

The 28-year-old will campaign his own Yamaha YZF-R6 machine in the two four-lap Monster Energy Supersport races.

Hailing from Zagreb, Majcan has been racing professionally in Croatia and across Europe for nine years, competing in both the Superbike and Supersport categories throughout his career although it’s the Supersport class where he’s enjoyed the most success.

Majcan claimed his first Croatian Supersport title in 2021, taking three wins and four more podiums to edge out rival Ivan Visak by just two points. The duo, along with Antonio Ciko, again did battle in 2022 but Majcan successfully defended his title and, indeed, dominated proceedings with five wins and six additional podiums across the 11-race season giving him an advantage of some 76 points.

He then made it three titles in a row last year with three wins and three seconds in the seven-race season again seeing him getting the better of Visak and Ciko.

In addition, Majcan has contested the FIM European Alpe Adria Superstock 600 Championship held across Europe at circuits including Brno, Rijeka, the Pannoniaring and the Slovakiaring. Last year saw him score points in seven of the 12 races with a best finish of third at former Grand Prix venue Rijeka.

Majcan’s road racing experience has been built up at the premier pure road racing events in his homeland, the Krizevci TT and Brod Open Races which he’s dominated in recent years. Riding his R6 Yamaha, Majcan has not only won the Supersport class but also the races outright, lapping comfortably quicker than the 1000cc machines.

Pole position, the victory and lap record were taken at the Krizevci TT last year with the same outcome at the Brod Open in both 2022 and 2023.

Majcan recently visited the Isle of Man where he impressed the TT Rider Liaison Officers with his attitude, application, and course knowledge which he aims to all put into use in June.

“It’s been a great desire and a personal goal of mine to contest the Isle of Man TT Races for some time so for it to be happening this year really is a dream come true,” he said.

“I consider it to be at the top of someone's motorsport career and a place to really show your talents. Rider skills are valued more than anything and I’m extremely happy to be participating at this World-famous event this year and in the years to come.”
