ACU license holders and motorcycle race fans are being urged to sign a petition to allow roads to be closed for sporting events without needing an Act of Parliament - a requirement that is holding back motorsport in England, Wales and Scotland.
The UK is losing out both in sporting and economic terms as a direct result of the law that requires an Act of Parliament to suspend the Road Traffic Act on a stretch of the public highway. Throughout Europe (and also in Northern Ireland and the Isle of....

MORE than 600 entrants completed the Express Insurance National Road Rally at the weekend (3rd-4th July) including road-race ace James McBride and ex-Hollyoaks actor Stuart Manning.
Former double British Superbike champion Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne also attended the event, meeting fans and signing autographs at the finish line. Shakey was due to complete the Sunrise Rally but due to an accident in World Superbike testing last week was forced to watch, frustrated, from the sidelines.
The event raised money for Mencap, the learning disability charity, and saw owners of motorcycles, scooters, sidecars and even three wheelers participate in a series of organised fun 'ride outs'.

July 3rd and 4th the National Rally takes place sponsored by Express Insurance and supporting Mencap.
WORLD SUPERBIKE star Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne will take part in the 2010 Express Insurance National Road Rally to help celebrate motorcycling across the UK.

He said: “The National Road Rally is a huge celebration of motorcycling, where people taking part can join in the camaraderie and ride routes they perhaps haven’t done in the past.
“The Rally has an excellent and worthwhile charity link and I’m looking forward to meeting fellow riders and fans of motorcycling over the weekend.”
Tony Way, Managing Director for Express Insurance said: “It’s great to have Shakey on board for the Rally, he’s a huge name in motor racing and I’m sure his presence will encourage others to join in.”
