East Anglia Schoolboy Scrambling Club Join Forces with the ACU

Following the recent East Anglia Schoolboy Scrambling Club Annual General Meeting the ACU Motocross Department are pleased to announce that the club have decided to strengthen the future of their club within motocross by becoming affiliated to the ACU.

Reminder regarding the ACU Tear Off’s Ban at All Motocross Events Starting from January 1st 2016

After the announcement earlier in the year regarding the ban of Tear Off’s from the 1st January 2016 the ACU Motocross Committee would like to remind all riders and clubs. The ban has been imposed following a number of environmental concerns in recent years due to the increased use of Tear Off’s at Off-Road events which has led to the ACU being asked to reconsider the use of Tear Off’s across all Off Road Sporting events in the future.

Last Sunday the Sidcup & Dist MCC hosted the final round of the 2015 MAXXIS British Sidecarcross Championships at their Canada Heights circuit in Kent. The event attracted the largest entry of the year with 37 teams and with the new track layout it had all the ingredients for an excellent days racing. Add to this the excellent track preparation plus the bonus of autumn sunshine things couldn’t have been much better.

The final stop of the 2015 Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship powered by Skye Energy saw the championship finish at the deep sand circuit of FatCat Moto Parc near Doncaster. Following the unfortunate injury to MX2 Championship leader Max Anstie at the Motocross of Nations in France, meant that all eyes were on Frenchman Steven Lenoir as he attempted to claim the crown.

This weekend will see the eighth and final round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship powered by Skye Energy take place at FatCat Moto Parc. The deep sand circuit near Doncaster will be a tough and demanding end to an already exciting championship.

Last Sunday the Phoenix Tools Ifly Premier Motocross Championship took on yet another new venue to the Championship for the penultimate round and that was Yarley Moto Park, Nr Wells in Somerset. The sun was out in all its glory and water had to be used early morning to dampen the track which was to rut up in places as the day progressed, but never the less it was to produce some good racing.

If you turned on your state of the art valve TV in the sixties on a Saturday afternoon, one of the best programmes on would be Grandstand and it featured in those black & white days, Scrambling, with the riders of the day that were household names like Jeff Smith, Dave Bickers and Vic Eastwood, Murray Walker was the commentator with his normal enthusiasm made the racing unmissable. One of the race tracks regularly featured was Canada Heights in Swanley, in the 21st century TV has evolved as has Scrambling, rebranded as Motocross and in full colour the sport has become a religion for many and boasts a great day out for all the family.
