The Scottish ACU Motocross re-vamp gains pace, following the de-affiliation of some motocross based clubs to an alternative organisation and the appointment of three-times Scottish Champion, Stuart Flockhart; the sport’s Scottish governing body has reformed their motocross committee in time for the 2012 racing season.

‘I, SUPERBIKER – THE SHOWDOWN’, the no-holds barred full length follow up to 2011’s runaway success ‘I Superbiker’ will be released in over 100 cinemas across the UK on February 21st with additional screenings on March 1st.

The 2012 Luscombe Suzuki Leeds British Sidecar Championship kicks off on Saturday in the Isle of Man, Hosted by the Peveril MC & LCC Ltd. This will see last year’s winner and last year’s Champion will both be missing, so last year’s series runners up Rupert and Chris Kimber will start the event as favourites, but a strong local challenge may see the trophy staying on the Island.

As part of their ongoing drive to encourage and develop the future stars of the British enduro scene, GMC Events are delighted to announce that former four-time Enduro World Champion and 17-time International Six Days Enduro gold medal winner Paul Edmondson will be on hand at all BSEC events during 2012 to offer ‘track walk guidance’.

On the 15th April the West Devon MCC will be playing hosts to the opening round of both the British Quad Motocross Championship and British Sidecar Cross Championship at the sandy Mepal Circuit near to Ely. The Club has decided to introduce a lineup of 80 Solo riders to the event. The Solo class will be an Open Class for both Expert and Junior graded riders.

Hot on the heels of the recent announcement that US racer Ricky Dietrich will contest the 2012 Husqvarna ACU British Sprint Enduro Championship, organisers GMC Events are pleased to announce that Poland’s Endurocross star Taddy Blazusiak will also take his place on the start line at the series opener in Aldershot on February 11/12.

On Saturday 28th January the ACU held the annual Awards Presentation at the Park Inn Hotel in Northampton. During the course of the day nearly 700 people attended to celebrate the achievements of both Youth and Adult riders from all disciplines of the ACU. The Youth Awards took place over the lunchtime and highlighted the hard work of the future stars from the sports of Trials, Motocross, Quads and Grass Track.

The Isle of Man Centre will be holding a number of Motocross and Trials Seminars. The Seminars will be taking place at Knock Froy on the Isle of Man on Wednesday 1st February and Sunday 5th February.

With the opening round of the 2012 Phoenix Tools Motocross series just 6 weeks away registrations have been flooding in and are filling up fast in all classes, including the new over 35’s 40s & 50s group.Venues have now been finalised with two new tracks being introduced one being Chew Magna, Nr Bristol, which will be a brand new track to be built in July, with input from the Premier team. and also the round which was originally to be ran at Waggadon Farm, Torrington on May 20th has been replaced with Wrangaton, Nr Ivybridge. After several meetings with P & P Events, some changes and improvements are to be made to the existing track ready for the 20th of May.

CH Racing Husqvarna’s new signing Ricky Dietrich will compete in the 2012 ACU British Sprint Enduro Championship. With the opening two rounds of the 2012 Husqvarna ACU British Sprint Enduro Championship rapidly approaching American off-road racer Ricky Dietrich has confirmed his participation in the series, which starts in Aldershot, Hampshire on February 11/12.

Applications for the U23 Enduro Squad are now invited, primarily from riders competing in the British /Sprint/Extreme Enduro Championship at Championship or Expert level.
To be eligible, riders must be under 23 years of age or become 23 during 2012.

Gavin Hockey Chairman of the Sudbury Motor Cycle Club is competing for the second time in the Inter Continental Rally which starts in Almeria Spain (Spain) and finishes in Dakar Senegal (Africa). Gavin flies out on Friday 27th January to Almeria, over the weekend check his machine over and sign on ready to start on the Monday for a journey of nearly 4000 miles over 14 days.

The European Championship is seen not just an achievable aim for many of our riders, but also very much as a stepping stone between the National British Enduro Championship and the World Championships

A Seminar for ACU Off Road Registered Technical Officials, situated within the Eastern and South Eastern Centres will take place on Saturday 4th February 2012, commencing at 10.30am.

A Seminar for Registered Technical Officials will take place on Saturday 11th February 2012 in the Conference Centre at the TT Grandstand, Glencrutchery Road, commencing at 9.30am.
The Seminar is open to officials who wish to renew their ACU licence and new applications who wish to apply for a licence for the fist time.
The Seminar will also demonstrate the FIM 2 Meter Max sound test method.

Look down the championship standings for both the MX1 and MX2 classes in MXGP and it will take you a while to find a rider with the Union Flag next to their name. While the likes of Germany’s Ken Roczen and Holland’s Jeffrey Herlings have exploded onto the world scene recently, the same can’t be said for young British riders. But Roczen and Herlings, while special, aren’t unique. We have youngsters in the UK who are equally as talented but the problem is that we simply don’t nurture them, nor do we provide the environment in which they can realise their true potential.

The 2012 International Six Day Enduro (ISDE) will take place in Saxony Germany during the period 24-29 September. The ACU will be represented by Trophy and Junior teams.

Dennis Slaughter, stalwart of the Norwich Vikings MCC and the ACU has been awarded an MBE in the New Year's Honours list. Dennis has been involved in British Motorcycle Sport as a competitor, official and organiser for 63 years.
As a volunteer and at the age of 83 Dennis has spent every single day at the Cadders Hill Motocross circuit based in Lyng near Norwich preparing it for meetings of all levels which have included local club, Regional, National and International events.
