Halfway Stage for Darley Moor Championships

The Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Club are preparing to welcome competitors to the midway point of the 2023 Championship season when the gates are opened on Sunday 13th August 2023 at the Darley Moor Motorsports Centre, near Ashbourne (DE6 2ET or What3words: bounty.behalf.charm).

Already entries have been received by no less than nine 2022 Champions, not to mention a number of 2022 Runners-Up and current championship leaders.  Looking at some of the current standings it may look like several competitors have a healthy lead, but that could well be because other competitors have suffered from a run of bad luck, but everything is still to play  for with the larger points haul still up for grabs, with four Rounds still remaining.

Glenn Atkinson (Northampton) – 2022 Forgotten Era up to 250cc Champion has moved up an engine size for this season, now competing in the Forgotten Era 250cc – 500cc Class.

Howard Baker/Mike Killingsworth (Sutton Coldfield/Lincoln) – 2022 Formula 600 Sidecar Champions are currently successfully defending their title with a 7point advantage over their nearest rival.

Stuart Bradbury (Belper) – the 2022 Pre-Electronic 600 Champion is another rider who has moved to another class, now competing in the Pre-Electronic Open Class and currently enjoying a 21point lead.

Mark Brailsford (Chesterfield) – Forgotten Era 1300cc and Overall Forgotten Era Champion is another competitor with multiple entries; one in the Pre-Electronic Open and continuing his defence of the Forgotten Era 1300cc title.

David Carson (Northwich) – 2022 700cc Twins Champion is entered into the Formula 600 class, of which he was the Runner-Up last year, the Darley Cup and currently has ground to make up for a successful defence of the 700cc Twins Championship.

Mark Goodings (Doncaster) – 2022 Open Solo Champion is in for a busy weekend with entries in the  Formula 600, the Darley Cup, Ben Godfrey Trophy and attempting to make some serious in-roads in defending the Open Solo Championship.

Paul Hawksworth (Castle Donington) – 2022 Forgotten Era 251 – 500cc Champion has an entry in the Lightweight Class this coming weekend.

Steve Thomas/Danny Lewis (Wirral) – the 2022 Open Sidecar Champions are currently 6points adrift of the head of the table in this year’s championship, so will certainly be looking to improve in the second half of the season.

Adam Walters (Derby) – the 2022 Pre-Injection Open Champion has entries in the Open Solo class, in which he is currently in 2nd place, 19points adrift of the leader, then a second entry in the Ben Godfrey Trophy races.

In addition to current Champions entries are also in for other 2023 championship leaders, not already mentioned including.

Matthew Bell (Sheffield) – Open Solo class

Nick Clare (Winsford) – Pre-Electronic 600/750 Twins

Iain Davis (Ashbourne) – Classic & Forgotten Era up to 250cc class.

Adam Green (Washington) – Darley Cup and Formula 600 Championship.

Steve Price (Stockport) – Classic & Forgotten Era 250cc -500cc class.

Anthony Thane (Stoke on Trent) – 700 cc Twins

Keith Waddington/Hannah Brunton (Barnsley/Salford) – with Waddington the current leading driver of the Open Sidecar class.

Matt Zschiesche (Stoke on Trent) – Honda CB500/Suzuki Bandit Championship

Many more entries are still anticipated and hopefully the weather will be kind for this Round and not require any races to be abandoned as per Round 3.

As usual the action on track will begin at 10am, with the first race scheduled for 11.30am. Advance tickets at are available now, just visit www.darleymoorstore.com: Adults £13, Seniors £10 or On The Day prices of £16 and £12, respectively.
