GB Reach Euro Pairs Final

Great Britain are through to the Final of the FIM European Pairs after successfully negotiating Saturday’s semi-final in Finland.

Tom Brennan and Chris Harris both scored 9+1 for GB as they ended on 18 points, with Jordan Jenkins also making the trip to Varkaus as reserve.

The top three on the day were close with Denmark winning the meeting on 21 points and Finland finishing on 20. GB’s third place saw them finish four points clear of Sweden.

GB boss Olly Allen said: “It was a tough meeting, hard fought and close, and the Finns are really good on their home track which we expected them to be.

“At the end of the day, job one was to qualify which we did, and we ticked that off before the last race.

“We had the chance to win the meeting, it was between us and Denmark in that last race as to who would win, and unfortunately they got the better of us, but it’s not a bad day.

“I feel disappointed to have ended on a 5-1 against, but in general we came here to qualify, we’ve done that and we’ve now got the Final to look forward to.”

The Final takes place at Polish venue Opole on October 1.
