It was the now familiar sight of Bobby Varey topping the qualifying almost from the word go setting a 1.14 .114 on his 3rd flying lap with the TZ 250 Yamaha /fastline Superbikes Preston machine , Ian Mackman slotted into 2nd with a 1.15.068 on the 2 Machs Motorcycles TZ 250 with Gavin Mills back on form 3rd on his Mills Racing Honda GP 250, 1.15.105 .
Leading the 125’s was Sian Brooks just from Mark Tyrrell both on RS 125 Honda’s
RACE 1, Varey jumped out of the start to lead from Mackman and put down a master class of racing and increasing his lead each lap to finish with a 9.4 second gap after 8 laps, Mackman had a solitary race for second with Nick Sansome getting 3rd from Fank Swain on the last lap.
Sian Brooks was 125 winner well clear of Tony Flinton and James Chapman
Race 2 , Varey could not repeat the flying start of race 1 and was struggling to get the dayglo Yamaha going dropping right down to 9th on the first lap, Swain had made a rocket start but could not hold on as Mackman swept past with Sansome in tow.
By lap 3 Varey was on song again and up to 3rd and quickly past Sansome and Mackman in his sights and past him on lap 4, but Mackman was not about to settle for second and hung on to Varey and was only 0.295 behind at the flag, Sansome again 3rd , a recovering Mark Tyrrell took 125 honours with Brooks 2nd Flinton 3rd
Race 3 , it was Mackman that took he start this time with Sansome in tow, Varey as they charged down through Craner Curves, by the end of the first lap Varey had the lead back but again Mackman was a constant shadow matching his lap times and not giving him any time to rest also Mills had got the Honda buzzing and caught up with Sansome in third with less than a second between them, Varey hung on for the win by 0.250 and Sansome just for 3rd by 0.262 from Mills
125’s was Tyrrell and Brooks nose to tail until Sian had a couple of off par laps and lost track of Tyrrell who took his 2nd win of the weekend
Paul Metcalf took 2 race wins in the Cup Class with James Seath a win in the last race
Varey now has a commanding lead in the 250 class from Chris Moore (a weekend to forget for Chris) and Sansome in third
125 is Sian Brooks from Mark Tyrrell and the Cup Leader is James Seath
