Colin Dommett

Sadly one of Cornwall's finest motorcyclist Colin Dommett has passed away on Thursday 9th February, although Colin was brought up in Cornwall he was born in Devon, where he returned to live in later life, his motorcycle career started in trials in the late 50's and progressed like many of that time into Scrambling in the Summer, giving up Scrambling following an injury Colin concentrated on Trials and became a works Cotton rider competing in many Nationals and British Championship Trials and winning the Cornwall Centre Championship ten times.

In 1968 he was selected to ride in the International Six Days Trial in the ACU's Vase team and was upgraded to the Trophy team in 69 and 70 but sadly without success, riding a private Bultaco in the 1971 ISDT in the Isle of Man a coveted gold medal was secured. In the mid seventies Colin took up the challenge of sidecar trials with Eric Chamberlain as passenger and took the sidecar world by strong winning the 76, 77, 78 and 80 British titles and the 1977 European title. Lately he took to the expanding Pre 65 movement competing in both scrambles and trials, eventually finishing as commentator at many events up and down the country, when not commentating he would be seen spectating.

A great rider, character and gentleman.

Our condolences go to the family at this sad time.
