WULFSPORT TRIAL GB CHAMPIONS CROWNED

WULFSPORT TRIAL GB CHAMPIONS CROWNED.

In the closest of finishes, Toby Martyn (TRRS) retained the British crown with a win at the final round held at Llanfyllin last Sunday.  His loss of thirty five marks was three better than his close rival, Jack Peace (Sherco) who kept the pressure on throughout the three lap event.

Martyn initially thought he had blown his chance when he failed the last root and rock laced climb on the final section, but when the computer revealed the scores his rival had incurred a maximum penalty earlier in the lap at section two.

Iwan Roberts RRS) wrapped up the Trial 2 title in convincing style whilst Dan Thorpe (Gas Gas) didn't make the podium on this occasion, but still comfortably took the Trial Expert title.

Young George Hemingway was the star on the third route, scoring a convincing win in the Trial 125 class to take the British crown.

Having told the story of the Champions above, in the Trial GB Class Billy Green (Scorpa) gained the lower podium spot after the expected battle between him and Dan Peace (Sherco) fizzled out when Dan slid back down the roots and rock final few metres of section twelve on lap one and dislocated his shoulder.  To his credit, he struggled around the final two laps to finish and take the important thirteen championship points.

After a nervous start, Roberts dominated the Trial 2 Class returning lap scores of 6- 8 -4 to take a comfortable win from Harry Turner (Scorpa) who recorded his best points haul of the season, with Sam Haslam (GasGas) reveling in three of the harder sections of the Trial to take third.

A final lap of one mark ensured George Gosden (Beta) rounded off his season with a win in Trial Expert from Tyler Rendall (Vertigo) who survived a poor final lap after nearly matching Gosden's single mark ride on his second tour.  Charlie Smith (Vertigo) made his fourth podium visit of the year in third.  Champion Thorpe finished fifth on thirty three marks.

In a repeat of the normal Trial 125 podium, George Hemingway went 8-2-3 to finish clear of Jamie Galloway (TRRS) with Alfie Lampkin (Vertigo) third.

Darren Brice will go on record as being the first Trial Electric winner in the Trial GB series after he fought off a day long battle with William Brockbank, whilst Matthew  Alpe completed the Electric Motion podium.
