Martin Jessopp back to take on the Weston Beach Race

After ending up 62nd in the 2018 Weston Beach Race, road racer Martin Jessopp is back to tackle the mammoth circuit and endure the three-hour long race once again.

A podium finisher in the road racing world with numerous Northwest 200, Isle of Man TT and Macau Grand Prix wins to his name. Jessopp is looking to battle through the three hours to see if he can make it onto the podium this year.

We took five minutes of Martin’s time to discuss what he has been up to this year and plans coming into this year’s event.

“I have been a very busy MX dad in my spare time. My daughter Jessie-Lee competed in the BSMA Nationals this year ending up in third. This year Jessie would have lined up for her second Weston Beach Race, however she is competing in the World Kickboxing finals, so I was free to do the race and was bullied into getting my entry in. To be honest it did not take much convincing as I really enjoy the race and having the UK’s Biggest Offroad Event so close to home I have to be on that start.”

“My best result was 36th (I think), my last go at the event was back in 2018 and I had the dreaded man flu so just getting to the finish I was really happy with. I will certainly be pushing 100% this year. I did a three hour race a couple of weeks ago to prepare my body, but you can’t really prepare yourself for a beach full of dunes and hundreds of riders.”

Make sure you’re at Weston Beach Race on October 21st to 23rd to witness the action on Martin Jessopp take on the Adult Solo race on an GASGAS EC250.
