FIM World Trials Championship and TDN Portugal

Last weekend saw the final round of 2021 World Trials/Trial2 and also Ladies World Trials Championship/Trial2 at Gouveia Portugal. With ACU riders Toby Martyn and Jack Peace 1st and 2nd position in the Trial2 Championship going into the event it was Toby who finished third on the day and clinched the Championship with Jack in second position overall. Billy Green finished 10th on the day also 10th in the Championship overall.

Ladies World Trials Championship was very close at the top going into Saturday’s final round with Emma Bristow leading Spain’s Laia Sanz by one point but with Laia on 6 marks lost and Emma on 14 marks lost on the day it was very disappointing for Emma to become runner up in the Ladies Championship at the final round.

Isle of Man resident Kaytlyn Adshead riding in Ladies Trial2 Championship tied on 16 marks lost with two Italian riders on Saturday but lost out on tie decider to finish 3rd and also finished 3rd in the final standings. North Berks rider Alicia Robinson finishing a credible 5th in the Championship. Hookwood Trials Club member Sophie Bailey gaining more experience on the World scene to finish 13th overall in 2021 Women Trial 2 Championship.

In bright sunshine on Sunday, 24 teams competed for Trial Des Nations trophies. The ACU Men’s team consisting of Toby Martyn, Jack Peace and Billy Green competing against Federations with strong team such as Spain with the top riders in World standings and finished a credible 4th overall.

The Ladies team consisting of Emma Bristow, Alice Minta and Alicia Robinson finished in an excellent 2nd place behind Spain losing out for a win by only 7 marks.

Thanks to all riders and minders for competing against the best trials riders on the World Trials scene.
