Final round of the 2015 MAXXIS British Sidecarcross championships heads to Canada Heights this Sunda

If you turned on your state of the art valve TV in the sixties on a Saturday afternoon, one of the best programmes on would be Grandstand and it featured in those black & white days, Scrambling, with the riders of the day that were household names like Jeff Smith, Dave Bickers and Vic Eastwood, Murray Walker was the commentator with his normal enthusiasm made the racing unmissable. One of the race tracks regularly featured was Canada Heights in Swanley, in the 21st century TV has evolved as has Scrambling, rebranded as Motocross and in full colour the sport has become a religion for many and boasts a great day out for all the family.

The meeting at Canada Heights on October 4th
features British Championship Sidecars and British Championship Quads not to mention full support races from the solos with some of the quickest riders in the South East.

The final round of the 2015 MAXXIS British Sidecarcross championships has come down to the wire with an exciting climax, after five rounds this year’s championship is still not settled with defending champions Stuart Brown / Josh Chamberlain leading Brett Wilkinson / Steve Kirwin by forty nine points. With seventy five points on offer in the three races at Canada Heights it is mathematically possible for Wilkinson to win the title but as Brown is yet to be beaten this year that is unlikely. If Brown does win it will be his thirteenth title, yet another record, and Josh’s fifth.

Currently in third place are Simon Bradford / Luke Peters, fifty one points behind Wilkinson but only twenty six points ahead of the much improved Nick Jarvis / Dan Chamberlain. Others to watch out for are the Irish team of Neil Campbell / Ross Graham and only recently returned from injury Daniel and Joe Millard.

Also embedded in the main championship races is the new Experts class. This is currently being led by Tony Grahame / Scott Lloyd with another Irish crew, Gary Moulds / Alan Gardner, still in with a chance of snatching the title.

With over 30 of the country’s top teams entered the racing should be worth watching especially as nobody has ridden on this track layout now it’s direction has been reversed.

Entry is £10 with kids under 14 free and of course the car parking is free, Canada Heights is at Button Street Swanley, just follow the Brands Hatch signs at the M25 junction at Swanley and its ¼ of a mile on the left. (BR8 8DX) For more info see
