After visiting the Arena on Wednesday (21st December), the ACU would like to announce that, after lengthy negotiations over many aspects of the possibilities of saving the Wembley round of the British Supercross Series, the decision has been made that with such a short time scale before the proposed event, it is not in the best interest of the sport, especially the riders and fans, to attempt to keep the event alive.
Therefore reluctantly, the ACU has to announce that the Wembley event will not be staged and full refunds to riders will be made prior to the Christmas break. The ACU would like to assure everyone that a huge amount of effort has gone into this project in the past two weeks and whilst many elements had been put in place, the risk of a less than perfect event was too much to move forward in the space of time, especially with the impending Christmas break, where some contractors close for two weeks.
The ACU will make a further announcement with regard to its plans with regard to Supercross in the UK in the first few months of 2012.
