On what was a cold and wet Sunday morning Merthyr Motor Club held this year’s Welsh Expert Trial at Glyn Mil Farm, Merthyr Tydfil. Format for the day was 10 sections 3 laps consisting of stream gullies and slippery banks. Section 4 proved to be the hardest section of the day for all riders with only Jake Evans-Luter and youth rider Iwan Roberts going through for a clean.
This section seemed to sort the men out from the boy’s with a few of the riders feeling a bit under the weather following an outing for the rugby (Wales v Australia) the day, night before. There was a surprise win on the clubman route. Dai Collins taking the honours closely followed by Nick Morgan and James Lamin. Jake Evans-Luter proved to be the class act of the day completing the event on just 15 marks dropped followed by Jason Galvin and Alistair Bedford respectively. Merthyr Motor Club would like to thank all riders for taking part as there were only two courses at this event (Expert & Clubman).
Big thank you to Steve Watson and the Gurnos boy’s for marking out the event not forgetting the observers and officials on the day. Thanks must also be given to Fay and Karen at the Llwyn-yr-Eos in Abercanaid for supplying sausage and chips for everyone after the event.
