Southern 100 Club Keeps Faith with Two-Strokes

Southern 100 Racing, organisers of the Manx Telecom Post TT Road Races and the Steam Packet International Southern 100 Road Races are retaining classes for the popular 125cc and 250cc two-stroke machines at both events for 2012.

Chaz Davies - World Champion!

Chaz Davies has become World Supersport Champion 2011. The Yamaha ParkinGO rider has achieved his dream, in a season where he has dominated throughout the year. Chaz has been impeccable during the championship but started in the worst way possible when a tire problem put him out of the race in Phillip Island winning his teammate Luca Scassa.
ACU Medal of Honour

Two stalwarts of British Motorcycle Sport received the ACU Medal of Honour during the National Council meeting held at ACU House on Saturday 19th November. The ACU President, the Right Reverend John Oliver presented Eric Adcock and Vic Ashford with their well deserved accolade to mark their outstanding contribution to the ACU and Motorcycle Sport in general.

Road Race riding ability conditions for new Road Race Licence Applicants

The Road Race Drag and Sprint Committee have announced the following change to the Road Race riding ability conditions for new Road Race Licence Applicants. From the 1st January 2012 a pass in the CBT Course will not be acceptable as a means of proving an applicant’s ability to ride a motorcycle.

The Road Race Drag and Sprint Committee have announced the following changes to the Road Race Licence age and machine restrictions effective from 1st January 2012.
Continued Support for ACU Riders in the 2012 Red Bull Rookies and ACU Cup

The ACU Road Race Drag and Sprint Committee have agreed to continue to support the ACU riders selected to take part in the 2012 FIM Red Bull Rookies Cup. Support will also be given to the top 2 highest placed riders aged over the age of 14 but under 16 in the ACU Cup, to help them compete in the final two rounds of the Spanish CEV Buckler Championship in 2012. The ACU Cup is run as part of the BSB British 125cc Championship.

Hodson clinches title in final round thriller

The final round of the 2011 250GP ACU National Championship and NG Cup took place at Thruxton in a stunning showdown where the title was decided in a final lap final corner last ditch move by Hodson to secure top honours by just two hundredths of a second!

On Saturday afternoon you'll sit the ACU CTC Classroom Course, a requirement for your Licence, with more info on the Club, racedays, setup etc. On Sunday you'll be on track under the supervision of our ACU Club Coaches in small groups, who will guide you through skills and routines on track depending on your previous riding or track day experience. In the afternoon you will have the chance to experience a full race start under controlled conditions.

Mr Jim Hinchliff, Race Director for Derby Phoenix MCC Ltd, has been re-elected to the ACU Road Race Drag and Sprint Committee for a second term. Mr Hinchliff will serve on the Committee for a further term of three years.

Kyle Ryde and Wayne Ryan take on CEV Buckler Championship at Valencia and Jerez

Kyle Ryde was recently crowned the 2011 Sunoco British 125GP champion after the title-deciding final round as his third place secured him a maiden British Championship crown by just two points from Wayne Ryan with Rob Guiver just a further ten points adrift in third. Not only did Kyle Ryde and Wayne Ryan finish 1st and 2nd in the 2011 GP125 class, they were also the highest placed 14-16 year old riders in the ACU Cup.

The ACU Road Race Committee have been working to produce a guide for Road Race Riders that are looking to purchase Secondhand Race Bikes. The document has been compiled with the assistance of the Metropolitan Police: Stolen Vehicle Unit and Motorcycle News. The document contains details able frame and engine numbers and how they could have been changed.

The ACU Road Race Committee is pleased to announce that with immediate effect there will be no charge for the issue of the Red Hi-Viz vests for Newcomers to Road Racing. Vests will now be issued free of charge, on request with the first licence application. Previously there was a charge of £7.00 for the vest.
