Enduro

Sunday 23rd October sees the 4th round of the EMG/KIA Eastern Centre Solo Championship at Foxborough Quarry, Sible Hedingham organised by the Sudbury Motor Cycle Club. This is a Hare and Hounds event where there is a mass start for competitors instead of the usual four competitors setting off every minute. The event is split into two with the Clubman’s Class starting at 10am and riding for two hours nonstop, while the Championship and Expert Class start at 1pm and ride for 2.5 hours nonstop. Entries are not finalised but there is everything to ride for as in the Championship Class Jamie Roper is on 55 points following him is Chris Hockey 49 points, Julian Harvey 32 points, Sam Toy 24 points. In the Experts Class Kelvin Vant is leading with 44 points with Phil Maltby 42 points, Aaron Edwards 38 points, Phil Roper 33 points and Andy Mason 32 points. The Clubman’s Class is also closely contested with Nicholas Barrett leading on 41 points, followed by Ben Alexander and Luke Hodgkinson on 37 points, Chris Haylock 36 points and Dan Richardson 30 points. This series is hotting up and after the Sudbury Club’s event there are two more rounds in November with the riders best five scores out of six counting, because any of the riders mentioned can win their Class with others lurking in the background.

Slab Common in Bordon, Hampshire will be the site of the 3Hrs Hare and Hound Enduro. The event is being hosted by the Hants Police MCC and will take place on Sunday. Classes are available for Experts, Clubman’s A and B and Sportsman’s. The event is open to all and membership to the XHG Tigers will be available if it is required. For more information about the event visit www.hpmcc.org and phone Dave Ryall on 07710 013827 for an entry to the event.

Trial

The Richmond Motor Club will be hosting the eighty second Scott Trial on October 22. It could be the eighty third depending on when petrol rationing was eased after W.W, Two. Dougie Lampkin broke off world trialling to take the Alfred Scott Memorial Trophy three times. Michael Phillipson, Wayne Braybrook and 2010 winner and British champion James Dabill added their names to the coveted trophy. One name stands above all others, nine times winner Graham Jarvis. Even at thirty five Jarvis is more than capable of making it ten Scott's and all those illustrious names will ride again Saturday. Two hundred and ten will leave Feldom Range to face eighty sections and about the same rugged moorland miles battling with terrain and time. As in the previous years there will be a comprehensive programme listing all competitors, their machines and home towns. Among that list are World Superbike stars Leon Haslam and Leon Camier who both capable off-road riders. Don’t expect them to stop and sign autographs! Price is set at £4.00. Remember, the Richmond Motor Club has donated over the years over £107.000 from the proceeds of the programme and the famed auction which precedes the awards ceremony.
