This weeks ‘What’s on Weekly’ features more events from around the country. Here is a selection of just a few events taking place.
Motocross

This weekend the final round of the ACU Maxxis British Motocross Championship will be taking place at the famous Hawkstone Circuit. The final round of the 2011 championship will see Brad Anderson and Arnaud Tonus will return to action after winning both the MX1 and MX2 Championship respectively. There is still a lot to be decided in both championships. Also competing on the Sunday will be the final round of the British Veterans Championship, which is currently being headed Greg Hanson over Jason Morris. Hanson's main rival on the day could well be Factory Phil Mercer who only entered the series at the Foxhill round after being a few days too young when the opening round took place. The action starts at 9am with MX2 practice and timed session and the first race of the day will take place at 12:15pm. For more information please head to the official website www.mxgb.co.uk

The final round of the ACU Goldspeed British Quadcross Championship takes place this weekend with all classes participating at the ACU organised event. The decision has been taken to hold the final round at Milton Park on Sunday 2nd October and not over the full weekend as had originally been planned. Racing on Saturday has been cancelled due to lack of entries. Sunday’s event will see three races in each class as opposed to the original two race format. Despite the shorter weekend, there will still be plenty of action to entertain the crowds as a total of 13 championships are decided with riders battling it out for the prestigious British titles. John Mitchell has been leading QMX1, winning every round until his main title contender, Mark Watson won in round five at Langrish and is 51 points behind him. Sadly, whilst competing in last weekend’s Quadcross of European Nations Watson crashed badly in free practice and having sustained numerous facial injuries will remain in hospital for at least three weeks, putting him out of contention for the championship. That leaves Paul Holmes as Mitchell’s only challenger for the title. With a maximum of 75 points available it’s tight in the rest of the standings and still all to play for in the top five. It’s also going to be a close finish for the Under 21 Championship as James Hellewell and Stefan Murphy currently on equal points, battle it out as the main contenders in what has been a very competitive class. In the Masters, it’s also tight at the top with just 16 points currently separating the leading four. Riders and spectators alike can expect to see an enthralling and captivating conclusion to this year’s championship. Adult entry fees are just £5 and children only £3. Practice starts at 9am on Sunday morning. Milton MX Park is situated in Northamptonshire, postcode NN4 0JF. Directions can be found on the Milton Park website www.miltonmxpark.co.uk

This weekend the penultimate round of the 2011 Maxxis British sidecarcross championship will take place at the superb Canada Heights circuit near Swanley in Kent and will be hosted by the Sidcup club. After four rounds (The round at Condover was cancelled) defending champion Stuart Brown and his passenger Josh Chamberlain lead the championship by just ten points from Daniel and Joe Millard. To date Brown / Chamberlain have beaten all the regular contestants until the last round at Langrish when the Millards turned the tables and beat them and in so doing virtually cut their lead in half. Lying in third place are Jack Etheridge from nearby Maidstone and his passenger Ryan Humphrey. This is their first full year in the championship and they have shown great potential. They lead the vastly experienced Scott Wilkinson by just ten points. In addition to the three sidecar races there will be solo races incorporating the final round of the Expert and Junior SE centre championships. The club have organised a bar and disco for Saturday night and on Sunday practice starts at 09.00 hrs with the first race due to start at approx 10.30hrs. Admission for adults is £7 with a free programme. The circuit will be signposted from junction 3 on the M25 (the A20 turning) and for those with satnav the nearest postcode is BR* 8DX.

Enduro

The third and final round of the ACU British Cross Country Championship will be played out at Carlton near Helmsley in North Yorkshire on October 16th. A fantastic all weather woodland venue, Carlton will be a great place to finish the overall British Championship. This venue has been used for the main club Championship during 2011, after the last event held there in June Rideoffroaduk’s groundwork team widened and graded the whole track, to ensure it would be in tip top condition for this final event of the BXCC. A good traditional enduro Hare & Hounds venue set in a stunning area of the UK. Located via the A1 turn off for Thirsk, Helmsley is around 20 minutes via the Sutton bank road.

Trials

This weekend sees the final round of the 2011 ACU Events sponsored trials series. The event returns to BACK COWM QUARRY, Tong Lane, Whitworth, Nr Rochdale OL12 8BJ which has seen many spectacular events from a few years ago. There is no reason to suppose this time will be any different as Back Cowm has a fantastic array of hazards to throw at the riders.

As with all of the series practise will be held on Saturday between 3-5 pm and the trial will begin at 10am on Sunday when the Expert B class will be first away. Looking at the overall series Expert B is where we will start as this is probably the least easy to predict. Richard Timperley and Guy Kendrew have been the two vying for the number 1 position all season and their season reaches a climax on Sunday as only one point separates the two of them. In Expert A group it has been a three way battle for the series crown but Ricky Wiggins is now sitting pretty at the top of the leader board with an eleven point cushion over nearest rival Jack Spencer. Anywhere in the top six should win the title for Ricky but it is going to be close run thing behind him and South Eastern centre rider Fry has been riding very well of late. In the Championship James Dabill should clinch his third consecutive British Crown. He had won no less than five of the seven events in the series but Michael Brown has also been in fine form winning two of the last three events. Third place in the series will be between Ross Danby and Sam Haslam
