This weekend Team GB will be heading to St Jean d’Angely in France for the 2011 FIM Monster Energy Motocross of Nations. Team GB consisting of Dean Wilson, Tommy Searle and Brad Anderson will be heading to the event with high hopes of glory.
Following a recent string of good results by all three members of the 2011 squad, Team Great Britain will have strong hopes of making it onto the podium after just missing out last season. Tommy Searle proved that he enjoys the St Jean circuit by capturing the overall victory at the French Grand Prix held early in the year, along with an overall victory at the recent Guildof round and finishing joint Overall winner at the final round of the Grand Prix’s last weekend at Fermo. For the Motocross of Nations Tommy will be competing on a 450 machine in the MX1 class.
In the MX2 class American based Dean Wilson recently claimed the 2011 AMA Lites title and has been the top rider in the AMA Motocross National series all season clinching the title with a round to spare. Dean’s recent run of form will give me the extra confidence, knowing that he can run with the top riders of Blake Baggett and Ken Roczen in the MX2 class when the gates drop in France.
British Hero and fan favourite Brad Anderson will be hoping to continue his superb form of recent weeks into the Motocross of Nations. Following on from winning the ACU Maxxis MX1 Championship in Duns with a round to go, Brad followed up by taking a fantastic fifth place overall at the British Grand Prix held at Matterley Basin.
Team Manager Steve Dixon had this to say about this weekend’s event ‘Obviously Dean Wilson has been riding great over in America in the AMA Lites series so it was important to get him over and I feel that he will be able to get a good result against the likes of Blake Baggett and Ken Roczen. Tommy has also been riding very well this season and he will get some good results in the MX1 class.’ Speaking about the return of Brad Anderson, Dixon had this comment, ‘having Brad on the team is important as he has been riding well and with a good start Brad is more than capable of holding his own in the MX3 class and is sure to bring home the results needed to help get the team on the Podium this year.’
