This weekend sees the final round of the 2011 ACU Events sponsored trials series. The event returns to BACK COWM QUARRY, Tong Lane, Whitworth, Nr Rochdale OL12 8BJ which has seen many spectacular events from a few years ago. There is no reason to suppose this time will be any different as Back Cowm has a fantastic array of hazards to throw at the riders.
As with all of the series practise will be held on Saturday between 3-5 pm and the trial will begin at 10am on Sunday when the Expert B class will be first away.
Looking at the overall series Expert B is where we will start as this is probably the least easy to predict. Richard Timperley and Guy Kendrew have been the two vying for the number 1 position all season and their season reaches a climax on Sunday as only one point separates the two of them.
In Expert A group it has been a three way battle for the series crown but Ricky Wiggins is now sitting pretty at the top of the leader board with an eleven point cushion over nearest rival Jack Spencer. Anywhere in the top six should win the title for Ricky but it is going to be close run thing behind him and South Eastern centre rider Fry has been riding very well of late.
In the Championship James Dabill should clinch his third consecutive British Crown. He had won no less than five of the seven events in the series but Michael Brown has also been in fine form winning two of the last three events. Third place in the series will be between Ross Danby and Sam Haslam
