What on Weekly-May Bank Holiday

With another four day weekend coming up, this weeks ‘What’s on Weekly’ features more events from around the country. With a number of events taking place under the ACU banner, here is a selection of just a few.
Isle of Man Club’s raise £3500 for the Benevolent Fund

On the 1st April the clubs within the Isle of Man Centre came to for an awards and fund raising evening at the Douglas Legion Club. With around 150 people in attendance for the evening, a good night was had by all.
British Championship riders produce strong rides in Valkenswaard.

Easter Monday saw round two the Monster Energy FIM World Motocross Championship take place at the sandy Valkenswaard circuit in Holland, including the opening round of the UEM EMX2 championship.
Maxxis Heads to Milton Malsor for Round 4

This Sunday round four of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship will be heading to Milton Malsor for the ACU Events backed round of the championship. Round four of the championship will mark the half-way point of the championship before a summer break. With the season already featuring some superb closer racing, Milton Malsor is sure to create more exciting racing.

Nora-MX at Pontrilas

Following the enormously popular one day meeting at Pontrillas last year the Nora MX club are back for double the fun this year with a two-day meeting! This awesome British championship venue is widely regarded as one of the best natural tracks in the country, the viewing and surrounding countryside is superb, the facilities are first class (in-built watering system!) and, at just a few miles off the M50, its easier to get to than you might think! Goldspeed ACU British Quad Championship April 17th 2011

This weekend witnessed the opening round of the 2011 Goldspeed ACU British QX Championship and an outstanding double win for Stornoway based John Mitchell. Organised by Nora-MX and sponsored by Goldspeed and Wilcock Holeformers , riders and spectators alike enjoyed an electrifying atmosphere, blue skies and sunshine at the world famous Silverstone venue.

Sunday 17th April marked round 3 of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship at Lyng in Norfolk. The sandy circuit was in great condition when the racing kicked off just after lunch and the Norwich Vikings Club where blessed with good weather all day long.

British QX Championship Starts at Silverstone

Silverstone, renowned as the home of British motorsport is the exciting new venue for the opening round of the 2011 Goldspeed ACU British QX Championship this weekend. Organised by NORA MX, it will be the first time the championship has been held at this world famous venue. With some of the top riders having already familiarised themselves with the track, it is sure to be a highly competitive afternoon of racing.
Round 1 Maxxis British Sidecarcross championships at Wooley Grange

Finally the long winter period of no racing was over and the 2011 Maxxis championship started in fine style at a brand new venue, Wooley Grange, in the North East.
There had been concerns before the event that the track would not be suitable but on arrival it was obvious that the North East Motocross club had worked extremely hard in preparing a track that should produce good racing. Also the overall presentation of the track was excellent with numerous banners, flags and clear signage that were in keeping with a championship event
All Systems go for Lyng

With the third round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship taking place in less than a weeks’ time, the Norwich Vikings club have been hard at work preparing the famous Lyng circuit for the next round of the Championship on the 17th April.

Following a week of diligent preparations - many thanks go to the hard working members of the Cambridge JSC led by Chairman Kevin Hearn and Jayne Edey. Also full appreciation to Ed Bradley and the DMP track prep team as they all together delivered the perfect setting for round two of this year’s BYMX series. The action at Finningley in South Yorkshire proved to be just as glorious as the weather with all five classes on show providing top quality entertainment.

Wooley Grange ready for the opening round of the Maxxis British Sidercar Cross Championship

This weekend the North East Motocross Club, along with a team from the ACU will be hosting the opening round of the Maxxis British Sidecar Cross Championship at Wooley Grange. The Wooley Grange circuit has seen a complete revamp over the winter months in preparation for this weekend. In recent weeks large amounts of new chestnut fencing and track posts have been put in around the track.

British Youth Motocross Round 2 @ Finningley Doncaster

Following last months Brampton mud fest round two of this years BYMX series moves on to Finningley in South Yorkshire on the weekend of April 9th/10th. For more information about the championship www.bymx.org/ Doncaster Motor Park with it's deep soft sandy and continental style terrain is the much favoured venue - with the CJSC club at the helm. At the opening round Scotsman Alexander Brown and Manxman Jed Etchells were an absolute class apart in the Junior 65's - and both guys will be ....

Preview of 2011 British Sidecarcross Championships

April 10th is the date of the opening round of the 2011 Maxxis British sidecarcross championships with this year’s opener being held at Wooley Grange in the North East. It is the first time for many years that the championship has visited the north east and the members of the North East MXC in conjunction with motocross committee chairman and motocross secretary Sonia Goggin have put in a lot of hard work to ensure the meeting is a success.
