The opening round of the 2011 Maxxis FIM Enduro World Championship starts this weekend at the venue of Ponts in Spain with two British riders looking for glory. Those two riders are David Knight in the E3 class and Tom Sagar competing in the E2 class on a 450 KTM machine.

The ACU British Cross Country Championship kicked off in fine style at Low North Park Harwood Dale, hosted by RideoffroadUK. The series had riders from all over the UK flocking to north Yorkshire for what can only be described as a stunning Cross Country event.

Championship points will be awarded to competitors of any Nationality.
The title “British/ACU Cross Country Champion” will be awarded to the competitor with the most points who holds British Citizenship. If the rider with the most points is not a British Citizen he shall be awarded the title of “British /ACU Open Cross Country Champion”. This principle shall apply throughout the classes

In complete contrast to the wet and washed out opening rounds of the ’11 Husqvarna ACU British Sprint Enduro Championship rounds three and four of the GMC Events organised series saw perfect track and weather conditions ensure enjoyable and close competition in all classes. With a fast and flowing cross-country style course bathed in sunshine throughout the two days of racing David Knight dominated the Elite class while top honours in the Under 19 class were shared by Australian Ben Burrell and Manx youngster Jamie McCanney. Danny McCanney, Jamie’s older brother, enjoyed a double Under 23 class win while Tyson Maytom-Jones hit double top in the Expert class…

With the 2011 season now moving into March, the number of ACU events taking place across the country in every discipline is naturally increasing each week. With the opening rounds of the British Motocross Championship, British Enduro, British Sprint Enduro and the British Trials Championship having already taken place.

On Sunday the Diss MCC club held the Muntjac Enduro for the opening round of the METZELER – ACU British Enduro Championship in Thetford Forest. The 22 mile course suffered heavy rain on the Saturday leaving the course very wet and slippery, but fortunately the Sunday morning saw bright and clear weather for the 9am start. With the first Special test of the day being held at 9:10am, it was Multi World Champion and 2010 British Enduro Champion David Knight that was first in to record a time, and Knighter immediately set a blistering pace on the factory Red Bull KTM, with a time some 7 seconds faster than Greg Evans on his KORR KTM with Stuart Edmunds surprising many by taking 3rd spot on the TM 250.
