This weekend the 11th - 12th July sees the ACU Events sponsored British Trials Championships move to round six with the Rene Pearce Memorial Trial.

Brousentor Farm, Peter Tavy, near Tavistock in Devon is new venue for the trial giving competitors in the series a new challenge, and it is the second of the rounds to be held in South Devon.

Practice will be held on Saturday 11th July with the Torridge and District MCC event on Sunday 12th July. The Expert B Class will lead off at 09:30.

Sam Ludgate is looking to consolidate his lead in this class whilst his two main rivals John Crinson and Ricky Wiggins will be challenging him all the way. Crinson in particular has looked solid all year and with assistance from Michael Phillipson they are making a formidable partnership. Let’s not forget Josh Woods also who has scored well all season except for an unlucky DNF in Lochaber.

In the Expert A group who can stop Sam Connor? Looking at the year overall the answer is probably no one as he is 28 points ahead of his nearest rival Gary Macdonald. But it promises to be very exciting as Gary is more than capable of a challenge and two young riders Ben Morphett and Jonathan Richardson (now Youth World Champion 2009) are challenging strongly. Jack Sheppard in the Youth section is still improving and is certainly one to watch.

The main Championship entry will be the one most of the spectators will probably follow and after the West of England there is still plenty to play for. After Alexz Wigg’s win at Ruby Rocks and James Dabill’s third behind chief rival Michael Brown it is still all to play for. ‘Dibs’ still holds a six point lead and he will not want to loose the advantage over the others. Alexz has been on fire recently and was also crowned World Junior Champion so he will want to maintain his current run of results.

The postcode for the venue is PL19 9NA for those of you who want to use your Sat Navs.
