Carlisle - Saturday
Day one of the British Trials World Championship event saw yet another clear victory for the current World Champion Toni Bou on his Repsol Montesa.
Whilst Adam Raga was his nearest challenger the fantastic Dougie Lampkin took a superb third which had the huge crowd supporting him all around the course at Armathwaite. Not only did Dougie roll back the years but James Dabill was fourth on his Gas Gas and showed that he is now really belongs at the top of the Trials ladder.
In the Junior category Alexz Wigg took a fine win over Alfredo Gomez perhaps his biggest rival, whilst Jonathan Richardson had to settle for third in the youth group on the day.
For once the weather forecasters had got it slightly wrong and the promised downpours did not really materialise.
Carlisle - Sunday
Another great crowd and great weather at the Nord Vue venue saw a great day of high class trials riding.
Five of the fifteen hazards had been altered slightly but it was a machine problem that apparently caused Toni Bou to take a nasty tumble as early as section three when he looked to be lacking power on a big step.
Fujinami was another in the wars as he was obviously still hurting from a day one crash but what a performance he put on as he managed to take a brave fourth. Dougie had a bad first circuit and fived a couple of sections late on during lap one but he fought back as only he can to take a creditable fifth place.
Alexz Wigg did a double win with a second victory in the Junior Cup while Jonathan Richardson retains the leader board in the Youth after a second place to Carles Class on day two.
Well done also to Ben Morphett, last years National youth Champion, he came in a superb third on the day. There is now a break of 3 weeks before the Japanese Trials GP on the 6th and 7th of June.
