John Collins, Trials & Enduro Committee Chairman is pleased to announce the Men’s ACU Trials des Nation Team for 2008.

The team selection was made following the British Experts Trial at Carlisle on 26th July 2008 and represents a good mix of the experienced campaigners and members of past winning teams, as well as the young contenders for the future.

With 3 riders inside the top 10 of the FIM SPEA World Championship and a fourth rider challenging one of those in the Colin Appleyard ACU British Solo Trials Championship, the team is confirmed as the same line-up that eventually represented the ACU at last year’s TdN in the Isle of Man.

Men’s Team
Dougie Lampkin, currently 6th in World Championship
Michael Brown, 9th in the World Championship, 1st in British Championship
James Dabill, 8th in the World Championship
Graham Jarvis, 2nd in British Championship

The Women’s team which was announced last week remains unchanged from last year – with the principle of “why change a winning combination” very much emphasised.

Women’s Team
Maria Conway, 4th in World Championship
Becky Cook, 2nd in World Championship
Donna Fox, 5th in World Championship

John Collins said, “Whilst this is the line-up that has been decided, as last year proved, injury or ill health can change things right up until the last minute.  Thankfully we are now in an excellent situation and if required can call upon world class replacements for both the Women’s and Men’s Team.  Whilst the Women’s Team are the favourites for their event I’m sure the Men’s Team will be hoping to deliver a huge shock to red hot favourites, Spain, who can boast 6 riders in the top 10 of the World Championship!   Last years 3rd place behind Spain and Japan was disappointing and we are hoping for improvement.

With the strength of our younger competitors on the World and European stage we may soon be challenging the dominance of Spain on the world stage.”
