The Auto Cycle Union’s British Motocross Championships heads north to Dean Moor Motocross Park, Pica, near Workington on 18th May 2008. The racing will comprise three championship classes, British Open Solo, British Under 21 Solo and the British Quad Championship.  All classes will see local competitors aiming for a share of the silverware.

Riders will enter each solo championship class and go through a 30 minute practice and qualifying session on Sunday morning. The 40 fastest qualifiers will progress through to the main Championship races, with the other 20 from each class, racing together in a support race during the afternoon.

Current ACU British Open Motocross Champion Wayne Smith, aged 26, originally from Workington is determined to hold onto the No.1 plate this year, leading this year’s Championship by a slender 19 points, after winning two races and claiming podium places in the remaining races so far.

The ACU British Under 21 Championship is one of the most competitive domestic Motocross Championships and will see the best young riders in action.

The ACU British Quad Championship has had 2 rounds so far and Paul Winrow will be looking to continue his winning start to the season.

Practice and Qualifying will get under way at 9.15 with the first Open race due on the line at 12:15.  For a map of the circuit location and for all of the Championship information please visit the official website at www.mmx.org.uk.  Adult entry to the event will be £10 with children £5 and other concessions.  Children under the age of 5 can go for free.
